I just got my credit report from TransUnion

There are no soft inquiries shown. Only hard inquries over past 6 years. What does this mean, that nobody pulled any soft INQ's on me?

Or is TransUnion simply not showing soft INQ's? (Aren't they obliged to release FULL credit file information under PIPEDA?)

If you had soft inquiries in the past 6 years, these would show up regardless of whether or not you paid for the credit report. No soft inquiries means noone has done a soft inquiry on you... not that there's anything wrong with that.

Thanks, I just want to make sure that this is not a case of TransUnion providing an incomplete report to me... So you sure that you have seen soft INQ's showing up on your TransUnion credit report?

Also I am not seeing any R codes at all (R0-R9) on my credit reports. For revolving accounts it simply says "OK" (Transunion) or "paid as agreed" (Equifax), rather than "R1"

The R codes are explained this thread:

Is the absence of R codes an indication that I do NOT have a complete report?

Which type of Transunion report did you order? The free one I ordered by mail lists my accounts as "R1 Revolving Paid as Agreed". The report I ordered online doesn't state R1 on it. Beside the "PAY" field, it says "Paid as Agreed", and under the 2 year history payment, it lists "OK" beside each month that the creditor reports. If you are reported late, it lists 30 or 60 or whatever under the particular month. This means your payment was 30 days late, or 60 days late, which means R2 or R3.

Furthermore, under the six year payment history, you will see if you have had any late payments as well in the past six years. Same thing as above. If you have a number 1 beside "30 Days Late", your account was R1 at some point.

I ordered online report, and that's precisely what I have.

The online report I got has only 2 year payment history, not 6 year history (even though my history goes well past 6 years). And there are no R codes.

So I was right that the online report is incomplete!

Anything else missing from online report compared to the one you got by mail?

What site did you obtain the free report from?

directly from the credit bureau, transunion.ca

I went to the site and did not see the FREE report, only the one listed for $14.95. I was in the following section of the site:

PERSONAL > CREDIT REPORT > CREDIT PROFILE > REQUEST YOUR CREDIT PROFILE ONLINE

Is there an option at the end which eliminates the fee if its done online?

Thanks

I've never heard of TransUnion or Equifax giving free reports online, at least not in Canada.

Just browsed their website, and still don't see it. Like hymack said, $14.95 for online credit report... add another $7.95 if you want your score.

I don't think you have an incomplete report. I made a mistake in my earlier post. The free report that you order by mail, and the one you pay for and order online are different formats.

What I should have said was that the online report does not contain any "R" codes. You can see if your account was R1, R2, R3 etc. by any late payments indicated on the report. There is a two year payment history, with each month showing for the last two years. For each month it reports "OK" then you are paid as agreed, or R1. If it says "30" or "60", you were 30 or 60 days late with payment, or R2 or R3.

Underneath that, you will see a six year payment history section. There is no graph. Most accounts will have a space for "30 Days Late", "60 Days Late", or "90 Days Late". If there is a zero beside each of these numbers, then you have no late payments over the last six years (R1). If there is a number beside any of these, then that means your payment was late that many times, and you can infer if that means R2 or R3 or something higher.

Note, the free report you order by Canada Post is not as detailed. It only reports your payment history for the past six years. It's more condensed.

I doubt you have in incomplete report, but if you want I could take a look at it for you.

My on-line report does NOT have a six year payment history, it only shows last 2 year history.

Are you sure you are not confusing with report you got by mail, which has 6 year history.

Thanks, but it would be good enough for me if you just tell me if the reports you got online from transunion.ca were complete.
Do you see soft inquiries and 6 year history on your online reports?

hymack
I never said online report was free. You can only get free reports by mail once a year.

I'm definitely not confused about my reports.

Thanks for clarification.

This is strange. My TransUnion on-line report only shows 2 year history.

There is not even a heading saying "6 year payment history" anywhere.

I guess I should get the free report by mail and see if they have more information there.
