Hi HD subscribers. I recently bought an HDTV and really have nothing to make use of it with except occasional BR/HD-DVD viewing. I'm wondering which package is better; Rogers or Bell. I'm already currently with Rogers internet so there's some savings to be had there. My primary interest are shows with substance; i.e programming that actually teach you a thing or two (HGTV, Food Channel, DiscoveryHD, etc.) though I hear HGTV HD isn't available in Canada yet.

So based on those criteria, which provider should I go for and which package?

Thanks

If you bought the HDTV recently, you should be able to get 8 months of free HD receiver from Rogers, and a few HD channels from that. The only channels that I actually watched from that are National Geographic HD and PBS HD. Both show some neat stuff (mostly NG as it shows more nature oriented shows).

Or you can get the VIP package which includes HD channels like Global, NBC, Fox, etc that are good for watching shows like Heroes on HD. Also you can get the TMN HD channels if you add the movie package with the VIP.

I say get the free HD receiver first, and go on from there depending on what more you want.
