hmm... they do but 100% sure they're not gonna go through 1 year worth of sales receipts.
Your best chances is to logon to your online banking and look for it from there.

I used to work at futureshop and our store saved copies of all the receipts (the yellow carbon copy) - for up to a year or something like that. If you know the date/time (approx) and which till you made the purchase at, they can easily find it for you. Hope that helps!

Yellow carbon copy? I haven't seen one of those in the past 2 years of working in there. We do keep track of the receipts but honestly it is next to impossible to find one receipt. It will take the CSR a great deal of time. I hope you understand my point.:-0
Try and find your credit card bill is much easier than having the CSR going through piles of receipts. They will go nuts.

For accounting and revenue purposes, they must keep records for several years. It is quite likely that they have it, but will take some time to find. If you have a date range, that will make it a little easier.
That said, it shouldn't matter where/when you bought the TV; if there's a recall on it, it's the manufacturer's responsibility to take care of it.

if they asked for your name and number, your purchase info might be stored in the computer.

I had this happen with a portable DVD player, and they need an exact purchase date (use your credit card statement or bank records if possible), and even then you need to come in during off-peak hours for a CSR to help you.
But if you paid by cash and have no exact purchase date, then you're probably SOL.
