In regards to:
Kitchen-Aid @ HBC -> Deals Page (http://www.redflagdeals.com/deals/main.php/alldeals/comments/hbccom_kitchenaid_ultra_power_300w_stand_mixer_249 97)
This was also in this week’s FS flyer as well:
Kitchen-Aid @ FS (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10016866&logon=&langid=EN)
But they are offering it for $329.99 and you get a $50 FS gift card… Does anyone want to PM, it could be possible?
Cheers,

Thought my prayers were answered.. I'm looking for a deal on the 450 watt Professional HD version for my wife... Costco USA has that on sale for $249 for Black Friday, but there isn't one close to Ontario! doh!

Hi freakx2001,
my oh MY, that's a great mixer, you're a great husband! hehe...
450 watt, that's crazy expensive. I saw one in the U.S when I was there and it was near $400! Hmm, have you looked everywhere here in Ontario?

You could try a PM @ FS but they'll probably just say Model # is different.

Is it really that much of a deal? Here's a 5 qt 325W Kitchenaid for the same price:
http://www.cayneshousewares.com/cgi-bin/detail.cgi?which=351529
and then the 5qt Artisan:
http://www.cayneshousewares.com/cgi-bin/detail.cgi?which=351508
Or the Pro 600 series for < $500:
http://www.cayneshousewares.com/cgi-bin/detail.cgi?which=348547
HBC, Sears and FS are possible the worst places to buy these from in terms of price.
Plus, take a look at all the Kitchenaid reviews on Amazon.com - the positive ones are all from people who do light work (cookies, creams, cakes). Just about every negative review is the same: "I was mixing bread and it couldn't handle it." The gearbox casings are (were? perhaps it was fixed) made of plastic, so when it really has to work, the gears heat up and deform the gearbox, causing it to seize.
This was a bigger problem on the high-end models, where people expect a mixer to be able to handle bread dough.
It's a shame, because the Kitchenaids used to be top-quality machines. You could mix cement with the older models and they'd keep on going. Now they're "good enough" - most people will never have a problem because they won't be making foods that tax the machine.

Hey, i spent over a month a few years ago looking for the best deal on these. I have the 300W one.
If you have a HBC homeoutfitters by you here is a 20% off coupon.
http://www.************.ca/showthread.php?threadid=147875
Linen and Things also usually has a 20% coupon and homeoutfitters will honor those coupons I believe.
One big thing I discovered while researching these mixers. Yes the more powerful ones have the lift up bowls and have more power however...and here is the big deal I discovered and my wife agrees....
The more powerful style with the lift up bowl, the bowl DOES NOT have a flat bottom. If you take it off the mixer and want to scoop out lets say cookies, you have to hold it, the smaller 300W mixer has a flat bottom and can stand on its own.
I ended up getting my mixer 300W at Walmart during this time of year, they have them all on special in the small appliance aisle. usually in the big ailse. I think I paid $249.
I also just picked up the 7cup food processor (without mini bowl insert) at walmart reg. $119, marked down to $99, and when I scanned it at a price check it came in at $40. needless to say my wifes xmas gift is wrapped and so is my mom's. This was only at one store and I got the last 2.
In my opinion, I would get the smaller mixer with the non lift up bowl, by an extra bowl (target in the states is cheap on these)
Any enjoy the baking that comes with the present.

If you're going to buy from Caynes remember to use the visaperks.ca code to get free shipping. Thsi is especially important on something this heavy.

I bought my KA Professional 600 mixer from Ace Hardware Outlet (http://www.acehardwareoutlet.com)and had it shipped to my friend's place in the US. There was no shipping charge and no tax as she lives in a different state. I paid $339.99, which I think is a pretty good price. I brought it back with me when I visited her. US Customs opened it but everything was fine when I got home.
