Hi guys/gals,
I came across this coupon for K-mart for 20% off! That means, for example, you can buy an 80 gig PS3 for 499.80, bring in the coupon and you get $100 off! I think its worth the drive to the states!
Hope this coupon helps!

wouldn't duty charges at the border kill this deal?

Not to mention a few hours at the border. Unless you buy a crazy priced item that is a thousands dollars, that wouldn't be worth it.
Also, this is a repost of the same coupon here:

Argh, was in the States last weekend, passed by a KMart, buddy bought a XBox360 for $349 with 2 games from a FYE. Crossed the border at 4pm Sunday, didn't wait for more then 2 minutes, declared everything(about $200 per person(3) and $450 for one), the customs officer waved us through.

Excellent coupon thanks !!!!!!!!!!!! I was going down anyways this weekend so it comes in very handy ...most items are really duty free (except clothing made in some countries , there is a separate thread on US shopping somewhere that explains in more details) but you do still have to pay GST/PST....:cheesygri

wouldn't duty charges at the border kill this deal?
There are lots of items made in the US or Mexico that this would be excellent on. TVs, appliances, etc.

I'm curious: has anybody actually used a COPY of this coupon? The small print on it says copies are not acceptable.

I'd have to pay WA state taxes, plus PST and GST still
darn tempting for a nice drive :)

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this. Supposedly the gift card deal is still going on until the end of November, according to a few people at slickdeals.
The title of the thread should be PS3 for $269 + tax. You buy 5 $50 gift cards and get $50 gift card for free. So you have $300 in gift cards for the price of $250. This is an insane deal.

Duty is not the same as GST/PST...
Just because you don't pay duty doesn't mean you won't get pulled over and dinged GST/PST on those items...
Note the (Canadian Taxes Always Apply) at the beginning of the list.

Here's the Official Source for duty http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/tariff2007/01-99/01-99-6-eng.pdf. People, read it and get familar on how to look items up. This will hopefully cut out many of the "How much is duty" and "duty kills the deals" posts. BTW, dutyfree includes not just Mexico.

anyone know where to get one of the actual coupons? I'm heading down to the states this weekend. Think they'll have them in-store(on the coupon, it says void if copied)?
thanks

It does work for the systems because it's K-Mart, not Sears. You can use this coupon at both Sears and K-Mart, but only K-Mart for electronics.
The coupon is a BIG YMMV. Some stores don't accept copies, some stores don't accept them for electronics period even though it says so. Just try you're luck if you're in the area, but don't drive over the border just for this. It's not worth it. It'd be like failing to PM something at a store, but 100x worse.

I don't think you can use this coupon at Sears. Especially in Canada!
I've tried the coupon at a local store in NJ while trying to buy an XBOX360, but they refused it.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to make another desperate attempt this weekend in Manhattan.
