Nice to see the laws of supply/demand taking effect. I swear these came out with a ~$250 price tag, a good $50 increase eh?

it doesn't look like it's overclocked by the manufacture, does XFX have lifetime warranty? maby that's why it's more expensive then the other 8800gt that FS is selling

Is this a good deal or no? I'm building a new gaming rig as soon as my 4GB of Crucial RAM from the NCIX thread arrives; and all I have left to buy is the videocard and motherboard (Going for P35, is this the best?)
Let me know!thanks

This is a good card, two of these and u'll have it better then the GTX.
P35 is good.
The price is consider as "average" since supply and demand is in place.
If you can wait, you'll probably see it under $259.99 next year but this is possibly one of the hottest tech this year for a xmas present.

Thanks for the info..
I might as well take the plunge.. But I dunno about buying 2 of them -- is 1 still gonna be pretty good?
thanks

yep 2 will pretty much play most of your games maxed out except Crysis, depending on the resolution

Thanks , i hope just _1_ is okay though (for now)
It says they don't come out until the 16th (Friday) but they wont allow me to do in-store pickup :(
So now I'm gonna have to wait until middle of next week to get it.. I wonder if these will be for sale IN-STORE as of Friday?

Uhh...this is $299 for a stocked clocked (600Mhz) one?
People were getting the stock clocked Evga for $199 earlier from FS. Even that one is only $259 normally. What makes the Alpha dog worth $329 retail versus Evga $259 retail (both FS prices before discount). http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10095590&catid=10524
So basically, the only thing that makes this hot is that...it's in stock???

I understand your concern,
$199 from FS was just luck for some people.
What makes this hot? Well, this is hot because it's in stock locally.
Like mentioned above, supply and demand.
If you've read the review on this gpu u'll understand why it's so hot.
8800GT is as hyped as when Ti-4 series was out.
Crysis was also added to this year's shopping list for most of the people due to it's outstanding advance graphic, as well as gameplay. And everytime when Crysis comes up, 8800 comes up.
I don't think the XFX is actually better then the eVGA but I doubt they have any big difference either.

It still does not make the $299 a hot deal for the stock clocked XFX. I have seen the XFX Alphadog XT (640MHz core) for the same $299. I still can't figure out why the stock XFX would be $40 more expensive than the stock EVGA. (EVGA comes with the same lifetime warranty + step up program + Quake Wars). XFX only has Compan of Heroes. Thanks for the heads up though.

I believe XFX has a lifetime warranty that is transferable one time as well. So if you ever sell your card, the next owner will also have the lifetime warranty. Now if he/she sells the card again, the lifetime warranty is voided.

XFX GeForce 8800GT XT 512MB 640MHZ 1.9GHZ GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out DIRECTX10 Video Card (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26958&vpn=PVT88PYDE4&manufacture=XFX)
NCIX should be getting stock of this soontime. It's only about $306 (for people in Ontario), everything included. Still hugely overpriced though.

That is incorrect. $199 was a price error. $259 was on sale, regular price for the EVGA stock clocked was $310 at FS.

I picked one of these up yesterday, only to realize that my mobo WASN'T PCI-E 16x like i thought... not to mention my power supply is only 420W. So ended up tossing down some more money for a new mobo and power supply.
Too bad i've gotta wait for it to come in next week... oh well, looks like i'll have to hold off a bit longer to play Crysis (tried running it on a core2, 2gb ram, and geforce 7800, and it wouldn't run any higher then LOW settings)
