Hi all,

Its me again about the Henckel knife. If you do a search, you'll find my previous thread with 55% all Zwilling Henckel Knives @ TSCC.

http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451548&highlight=henckel

This time, I think they're clearing the rest of their stock. For example, an 8" Pro S chef knife is now only $39.96. If you're in the market, you know the price is unbeattable.

Good luck!

Argh! I can't believe you posted this deal... I just placed my order for a set of 6 2 days ago and I was waiting until I actually got them before I posted it... I hope this doesn't affect my order since the last time this was posted, TSCC's stock got wiped clean in hours. :D

But this deal is hot. The prices are anywhere from 20-50% off Amazon.com's prices.

NOT the same knives. These are much better. HIGHLY recommended.

man this thread is way too over hyped! "price to hot to describe" lol

And it cheaper at canadian tire... so the canadian tire price must be "price to hot that your brain will explode"

CT has the single man logo which is the lower grade version made in spain or china. These babies are twin man logo and is made in germany. Completely different thing man.

I'll have to admit the "price too hot to describe" is abit too much. Should be something like "lowest prices"? Can the mod edit my title? Thanks in advance.

If they have same discount for the Wusthof knives they carry. I would definitely buy some of those. Bought professional s chief knife last time from TSCC, quite disappointed with Henckels now.

Wusthof is $80 - not bad price actually. I paid about $50 on ebay some time ago when US dollar was much higher.

I'm with you on that... and probably 98% of all Chinese.

However, there are times that a smaller knife is more efficient. Thus, I order some knifes... great prices on these Henckels.

Yeah, one of them actually sold out while I was browsing and I got a notice that it had been removed from my cart. I think it was the Professional S 7" Santoku. So I just replaced it with the 4 star one.

Was sad to see no paring knife or steel. In retrospect, I wish I'd gotten the set.

Yeah, the single man is made in China and is made in the same factory as the Splendide brand of flatware.

Quality is definitely not as good.

If you want quality you should check out a brand called "Shun".. I saw it at the Chicago trade show and it's amazing. Freakin expensive though... $400 for a cleaver.

I was going to order the boxset but they're all gone, but if you really think about it, the chef's knife is really the knife that you would probably use most. The others are great to have as a set, a little nice show-off piece.. but really... is it really that necessary to have a Zwilling Henckel paring knife... perhaps for some, but I'm guessing not for most... I got myself a Chef's knife too, the fact that the boxset was sold out is probably a blessing in disguise, saved 80 bucks haha...

Awesome deal OP, much appriciated.

My girlfriend is starting cooking school in the spring, would a set of the 4 Stars or S be suitable for a student starting out? Regardless, they are much, much higher quality then what we currently use at home, so a hot deal none the less.

Somebody posted earlier in the thread that the handle is the only difference, but I do not know enough about them to verify this.

Edit:

Having referenced http://www.zwilling.com/locale/en_ww/index.php/bereich/sortiment/produktbereich_id/1/produktbereich/serien/serie_id/2631 they are indeed the same blades with different handles.

The differences between the Pro "S" and the 4 Star are:
1. Weight: Pro "S" is heavier than 4 Star
2. Grip/Handle": 4 Star gives you better confort than Pro "S"

Other than the 2 differences, they both have full tang, forged, ice hardened, made in germany....features.

Cheers

It's all a matter of where he will store them. They are razer sharp, so leaving them loose in a drawer is asking to cut yourself, beside the chances of damaging or dulling the blade if you keep other kitchen tools in the same drawer. He needs either some form of a block, or at least a sheath for the blade.

Hmm... take a look at the description from the Professional S six piece set.

Included in the set are a 76mm (3") Professional S paring knife, a 152mm (6") and 203mm (8") Professional S utility knives, a Professional S bread knife plus a Professional S knife sharpening tool to keep the knives maintained.
Notice that there is no chef knife... do you really think it's possible for a 6 piece set to contain no chef knife, or might it be a mistake? The Four Star set clearly includes a chef knife in the description

TSCC prices haven't changed for Zwillinger knives for half a year now..

I bought the crazy deal of 6 knives and the holding block for only $20+ something?? This was the international zwillingers of course, not the "german made" stuff.

That was back then, but now the prices haven't really varied much with the exception of the 6-piece profession 'S' set.. which dropped a bit.. I'll be hoping to get that in the future.

Thanks for keeping the thread alive

Good knives at a great price.

I paid more for my non-German Henckels knife than these price. The Four Star knives have been somewhat of a benchmark for a long time since they were introduced way back.

I have to say though, if you want the best quality knives, none of these compare to the knives that use the harder Japanese supersteels. I have a Shun Santoku with VG10 steel and they stay razor sharp for much longer, and their thinner blades really slice well.

I hope my order doesn't get cancelled :( I want the Pro S set, but it was sold out within a few minutes... ordered the 4-star set last night.

Almost jumped on this instead:

I don't know about other Chinese family. For cutting most food, there is ONLY one knife and the knife, of all purpose
They are the cleavers, tell me i am not the only one
http://www.japanesechefsknife.com/images/Img91.jpg

Second that. When we came over 7 years ago, we had two suitcases of Stuff with us.... Had we only been allowed one thing, it would be the knife similar to yours. Still using and loving it. However, Zwilling or Henkels are the knifes to have in China right now. I might order some as gifts for family and friends.

But since im new to all this I was confused which is better the 8" or 10" chef knife. While i wasted time researching last knight i got a msg that santoku is no longer in stock and was taken out of my cart. I ended up choosing the 8" but today got a msg that they are out of stock.

Those Santoku Cuisine De France knives are sold out here in Calgary at Country Hills and Dalhousie, but for those interested in a 16 piece set of the Cuisine De France knives with block, CT has this set on sale for $39.99. Too bad the $10 off 40 coupon has expired. These aren't recommended for dishwasher though. :| Do they rust or something?

Probably no. Throwing them in the disahwasher just makes it more likely for them to get damaged, or at least dull alot more quickly

For what it's worth -- TSCC has dropped the price on the last remaining Henckels Zwilling item. The magnetic knife block, formerly reduced to ~$60, is now $24.96. For comparison, these seem to be selling for 99 Pounds (~$200 Cdn.) in the UK.

Thanks for posting the price drop, I ordered it last week for an instore pick-up and went to pick it up today. After I brought the price drop to their attention they credited my card $35 no problem.

Hello,

Can any one tell me where in Toronto I can buy knife sets that would include slots for steak knives? I know Calphalon sells them. And that you can order from their Toronto store online. I am interested in the Zwilling/Henckels Professional S series or the Wusthof Classic series.

I contacted I think Wusthof USA and was told that knife sets (including the wood blocks) that include steak knife slots are only sold in the US. True? I think that holds true for Zwilling/Henckels too.

I'm tempted to just order from a US online shop and have the knife set shipped home to Toronto.

Any local shop or Canadian online retailer would do.

Thanks.

Go to the Bay and ask to look at their Henkels catalog. It should actually be beside the knife display. They have a lot of knives/accessories that they don't normally carry but can be ordered. Try to get it when it's 30% because they're not cheap. This is how I got mine.
