yes, the OP could have been more helpful, but if you guys would just go to HD's site you could see the flyer and the deals.

You can do it, we can't help.. so just help yourself!!!!

my motto after spending many many hours waiting for someone to cut open a new bundle of wood, instead of taking home the cull lumber crap they expect you to buy. They really move fast when you start chucking the crap wood into the middle of the aisles.

On a positive note.. their 10% price match is worth abusing, bought a sewage tank for $129, Home Hardware's price was $119... in the end they took off$23 ( $10 difference + $13 price match)

In Calgary, I usually can not find a CSR to help me out. When I can find a CSR, they are absolutely useless. I am better off looking for the item myself. The lumber from Home Depot is crap!!

If you are in Alberta, buy lumber from Totem, great service, a Canadian company and they load it for you.

I bought a similar package a few months ago.
Decent tools although not for heavy duty, home use is fine though.

I have the 10 pc version of this. It is 18v, tools are decent quality, medium duty I would say. The drill is GREAT and the best piece of the set, expect to pay $150 at least for a drill alone this good at CT or Sears.

This set is a great deal. When I got my 10-pc set it was on sale for $297. This has 1 tool less and is $100 less. The differences is my set had a chainsaw (18v chainsaw is useless for anything but saplings, a goofy angle drill/driver which is also useless, and a jigsaw (which is actually quite good). The laminate cutter would have been much more useful to me.

Great set, I bought the 10pc kit a few years back for $259. The circular saw is burning out and the drill smoked and smelled like rubber once (I was using it to bore a dryer vent through my siding and rim joists - admittedly not enough drill for the job).

For $20-30/tool, this blows away anything else in this price range. Good for medium duty jobs. I put my set through hell. I'm considering picking up this 9 pc kit this friday for the new circular saw, drill and the extra batteries. The radio might be kind of neat too (my 10pc kit had no radio) and I'm sure I could use the extra light.

If you can find someone available to help you they're actually quite knowledgeable .. at least around here. I heard many are retired folks who work at Home Depot for fun (and so they know their hardware). I found usually the younger guys don't know as much as the older ones, at least from the few times I asked questions.

Be careful with the laminates. We had one of the cheaper one day sale ones turn out to be utterly useless crap - didn't fit properly, had ridges/gaps, etc. Haven't had a problem with laminate from anywhere else. If it's something they normally carry, and have long term, you'll likely be fine.

Not surprised. Was there by fluke last night, the event was poorly advertised...we didnt even know it was on, and the store was real quiet. Just as well, the "bargains" werent really impressive, wouldnt have been worth the trip.

Those that complain about HD's service, it really depends on the location. the one at Winston Churchill /Dundas in Miss. suck. We gave up and go to Rona instead. But the staff at HD in Peterborough are an example for ANY retail establishment. Friendly, knowedgeable, available, and service oriented. Never a bad experience there (when we need something for the cottage). Not enough HD's like this IMO.

I picked some laminate up here in Kingston around 10 pm. The staff were actually quite helpful - met us at the door, escorted us to the skids, loaded up the cart and then helped me unload into the car.
I will say that the store was quite empty and usually it is hard to find anyone :( - but Friday night they were great.

I opened the RYOBI 9 pc tool set. It is pretty good. Actually I was quite impressed. It was way better than the one I got from Rona a few days ago. I am going to return that one.

For those who are looking for power tools set, I highly recommend this one.

BTW, if you don't want to go from store to store looking for it, just call them up and ask for product number 479547 and see if they have them in stock.

Hope it helps!
