Is this normal?

I have no idea if it's a stupid question or not, but is it normal that I can "switch" eyes?

It's difficult to explain, but when I "switch" to my left eye, I can only see out that eye, and the other eye is useless, and it's the same for the right eye. Is this normal?

Also, when I switch eyes, the "useless" eye doesn't look straight but rather crosses. It's kinda hard to you know, be confident when you can't look a person in the eye (ha!).

Or am I just some oddity. :(

I would probably get it checked out by an eye doctor...

Go see an eye doctor because that is not really a normal thing...

Sounds to me like some type of lazy eye? Have no idea and I doubt very many people here will know either. Go to an eye doctor before your eyes start bleeding and explode.

+1 ... and do not go to wal-mart or those type of places... go see an Opthalmologist.. and get a referral from ur family doc, if its possible.

What is Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)?
Amblyopia, commonly known as lazy eye, is the eye condition noted by reduced vision not correctable by glasses or contact lenses and is not due to any eye disease. The brain, for some reason, does not fully acknowledge the images seen by the amblyopic eye. This almost always affects only one eye but may manifest with reduction of vision in both eyes. It is estimated that three percent of children under six have some form of amblyopia.

Causes of Lazy Eye
Anything that interferes with clear vision in either eye during the critical period (birth to 6 years of age) can cause amblyopia. The most common causes of amblyopia are constant strabismus (constant turn of one eye), anisometropia (different vision/prescriptions in each eye), and/or blockage of an eye due to cataract, trauma, lid droop, etc.

I have this same problem too. I went to the optimist like 4 years ago and i had this problem with my eyes not looking straight instead one of the eye tend to look in a different direction... this is called having lazy eyes.. i asked my optimist how can i fix my eyes laziness, she told me to use a pencil and look at it straight and follow the tip points by moving the pencil in a circle so that your eyes can follow the movement..

however, i did that for a while and i still find it hard since i did it for 5 months and it takes about 30 mins each day for exercise.. it's a bit time wasting so yeah i dont personally do it all the time.. i do it when i have time

one of the issue that occured with lazy eyes is when you do stupid tricks by rotating your eyes around or trying to impress your friends by narrowing your eyes.. this would screw the cornea veins on your eyes..

I had a friend who had lazy eye, hehe, lying on the couch while watching tv.

This was true for me my entire life. I was under the impression it was normal until I brought it to my friend's attention.

lazy eyes is not easy to solve or fix.. take a few years of exercise

Go see an optometrist. They will definitely tell you what's wrong with your eyes.

You could have strabismus, lazy eye (amblyopia), or something worse. Amblyopia is not good, because if could mean one of your eyes is not really being used, and you can lose visual function over time. Especially in kids, they will get agitated, restless, and do bad in school just because they can't see properly!
