View Full Version : Ah, I Love How Futile Shop's Displayed Prices Tags Are Often Wrong...

Whenever I pop into Future Shop, I always look at their blank DVD section, 'cos you never know when you're gonna get a decent deal on the Verbatim DLs.

Last time (about a week before they were last listed on sale for $25), at the Scott Road (Surrey) FS, I found a whole stack right over a shelf tag for some other disks priced at $20. After feigning surprise at the checkout when the real price came up and initially being refused the lower price by a computer dept underling, I ended up asking for the manager who capitulated quite rapidly and gave me the $20 price. I left the store thinking 'damn...if only I grabbed two, or three!'

Today at a different location, I was looking for them and hot diggetty dawg if I didn't find them again, right above a shelf tag for $20. Verbatim, DVD+R, 25 pack. Grabbing two this time, I once again went to the check out, and once again feigned shock. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the manager today put up a little bit of resistance but eventually gave me what I wanted.

So...2 packs of MIS Verbatim DLs for $39.98 + tax, on FS gift cards I received as gifts. Considering my rate of use, I'll have these disks for quite some time, but at least I have them.

So, to the ever so inefficient staff at Futile Shop who don't bother to ensure their shelf tags are in the right place, I say 'thank you'.

Very true. I managed to buy a Panny 32" LCD for $1079 this way even though it's regular price was $1400 at the time. Salesperson didn't even argue.

lol, they got you!
you could have gotten them to do the "Scanning Code of Practice" and got a further $10 off

I was tempted to go with this, however, since the shelf tag was not for the DLs (as per the full description), I chose to not push it. But it did cross my mind...

I dont always buy my stuff at FutureShop, they are completely idiots.. i hate commissions where they would go up to you and start asking if i need help.. but at the end, i would just say no thanks, im just looking around
