Every celebrity pretends to give a crap. If it was really for the "cause", all the money earned would be donated. Celebrities are rich for a reason; they are selfish.

would you be willing to practice what you preach?

how do you know if they don't donate? ever heard of private/anonymous donations.

and fyi, celebs got to pay taxes so donations would be an excellent write-off. better to give your money to the impoverished or sick than to the plump taxman.

Only the ones that say they do but don't donate or do anything about it, but who are those? bono isn't one.

buddy these ppl have done more than you or I could ever imagine accomplishing.

so what if their motives are composed of compassion and gain? they get a bit more famous but they lend their name to a certain issue and helps it get the attention of the public.

in the end, it's a win-win.

Same guy who move his business holdings out of Ireland, to save on taxes.
Same guy who rails governments to pay their fair share to end world poverty.
Same guy who doesn't seem to realize that money comes from taxpayers,
like the ones in Ireland who don't have the luxury of moving their holdings to avoid paying taxes.

Sorry, he's a great singer, but he's pretty transparent when it comes to who has to pay their share and who doesn't.

That may be true, but there's not doubting that his celebrity status has shed a lot of light on the issue, highlighting a problem most people wouldn't otherwise even know about/care about/pay any attention to. Giving money isn't the only way to help a cause.

2 people who are celebs only because of their extreme wealth,

Bill and Melinda Gates.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (B&MGF) is the largest transparently operated[2] charitable foundation in the world, founded by Bill and Melinda Gates in 2000 and doubled in size by Warren Buffett in 2006. The primary aims of the foundation are, globally, to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty, and, in the United States, to expand educational opportunities and access to information technology. The foundation, based in Seattle, Washington, is controlled by its three trustees: Bill Gates, Melinda Gates, and Warren Buffett. Other principal officers include Co-Chair William H. Gates, Sr. and Chief Executive Officer Patty Stonesifer. It has an endowment of approximately US$34.6 billion.[3]

Have a look at how a company called Kickstart (http://www.kickstart.org/tech/index.html) is changing the lives of rural African by making them self sufficent.

No, not at all..

He's been travelling the world asking politicians to send crayons and colouring books, not money. After all, money isn't the only way to help a cause.

Do you ever give credit? What do you want them to do, transfer their estate and live in a box under a bridge?

At least they're giving money, which is more than I can say for most people. Who gives a ***** if they actually care about a cause.

And yes, there are celebrities that actually care.
