Is there such a thing in Canada like a NO CALL LIST. I'm so sick of the telemarketors that are calling. Get atleast 3-4 a day and they are driving us all crazy!!!! If there is anything out there that we can sign up for, please share immediately!!!!!!

The system should be up and running before the end of 2007. The CRTC is still going through the process of finding an operator to manage the registry.

as of now there is no official do not call list in Canada. The link your provided will probably end up causing more telemarketing then it prevents.

MY biggest complaint is the fax companies using my paper and my toner to subsidize the cost of their clients advertising.
Every day I come to my office and there's a new ad there.
Free trips
computer deals
leaky basements fixed
stock tips
I love it when they have the fax number of the customer, I fax back every one of these ad's.
Sometimes in the middle of the night, 25 of these ad's + the entire listings in the Toronto Yellow pages for Escorts get faxed to them.
Many of these start-up companies consist of a few fax servers in a basement.
I highly doubt they are members of the Canadian Direct Maggoters Association
so this list won't mean anything.
Best thing a company can do is NOT list their fax number in the Scott Directory.
This publication is well known as the database of fax numbers for these fax services (read: *ssholes).

I have said this everytime someone has posted this CMA link as a DO NOT CALL list.
It is a marketing ploy to gather personal information so that they can sell it to their members. While it may slightly reduce some calls you get (if they are calls from the members of the CMA), after three years they will use your perosnal info and sell it to their members. Thus increasing your calls and junk mail.
If you fall for this as a DO NOT CALL list then I have a great piece of property I can sell you in New Orleans.

Not really ... It does serve to reduce some calls from CMA members but will not eliminate telemarketing calls to your phone. CMA members can call you even if you are signed up on the list, if you are a customer of theirs. Bell calls me at least once a month to try to upsell me no matter what.
Also many telemarketing calls you will get ( ie. timeshares, lawn maintenance, carpet cleaners etc) are from non-members of the CMA so it will do nothing to reduce these calls.
The best thing you can do is to try and make it as unprofitable for companies that use this type of marketing. If you have the time it's always fun to try and keep them on the phone as long as possible to see if they will hang up on you  If you don't have the time tell them that you never buy anything over the phone, and ask that they send you something in the mail.
If nobody ever bought anything from a phone solicitor this form of marketing would disappear completely. If you do buy or have bought anything from telemarketers, then you are giving companies approval to sell you stuff ( and annoy others) on the phone line you pay for for your personal use!
