Atlanta set up secret cameras inside 5 different hotel chains from the Holiday Inn to the Ritz Carlton (shown above) and caught every single one of them failing to properly wash the room's glasses.

At every single hotel, regardless of price, the glasses were simply rinsed out and left for the next guest. Some hotels used dirty bath towels to wipe the glasses. One hotel employee rinsed the glasses after cleaning the toilet—using the same gloves. Another one sprayed the glasses with blue cleaning fluid that was marked "Do not drink."

Fox Atlanta has turned the results of the investigation over to the local health department. Experts interviewed in the video maintain that this isn't just a case of "ew, gross" but a very serious health code violation. Dirty glasses spread disease.

So you pay upwards of $200-$400 for a hotel/night and you feel content with using disposable ones or bottled water? Do you see that solves nothing and is totally beside the point.

I am hardly one to spend lavishly but if I do find myself dishing out major dollars at a hotel, and in return getting dirty glasses and semen soaked bedsheets, would it make any sense for me to accommodate these corporations? It is a given that it is nasty but unless you have no issue with it being nasty, what are you going to do about it?

The whole idea behind these investigative pieces is to educate people about dangers they may otherwise be ignorant to. But it takes quite a lot more to get people interested these days. I apologize if this is coming out harshly but when I read that comment something just got fired up in my head.

Here's a secret, don't use hotel towels. Housekeeping is pushed hard to clean fast, so they use the towels to clean a lot.

lol i remember watching something in school about hotel rooms, this guy takes the tv remote, unplugs the phone, and wraps them in the comforter and throws it against the wall because they're the most disgusting things.

i use to work housekeeping in a hotel in DT toronto.

glasses do get washed...the room attendants spray some stuff on it when they wash it.

comforters get washed...every once in a while..but everything else on the bed is clean and fresh

the towels are all fresh..

room gets vaccuumed everytime there's a checkout

I think it also depends who cleans the rooms. There are some housekeepers that will just rush through things to make sure they get their rooms done in time. Housekeeping is a very stressful job as you're constantly told to hurry up because many times there are guests at the front desk ready to go up to the room when it's not even clean yet. I'm also a bit biased too since my mom is a housekeeper and she tells me all these gross things she sees:lol: :lol: Btw I've been told from my mom that the cleanest thing in a hotel room is the towels cause they are changed everyday while the rest is just dusted, vacuumed or wiped down. Btw blankets are not cleaned as often as people think they are:twisted: (even for 3+ star hotels). Hope I didn't gross out too many people:razz:

Same for cheap hotels in Niagara Falls. Not sure where they give you REAL CUPS these days, haven't seen it.
People, just use your eyes ... I think you can see whether it's clean or not and if it isn't, call them on it, that's all you can really do.

Exactly! Put the glass up to some light, if it's not sparkling clear you know it's not been cleaned, pretty hard to hide a dirty glass. Dirty towels don't smell fresh, dirty bed linens don't smell fresh and don't feel crisp, same with pillowcases. I think the story is a bunch of crap, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would notice if my room hasn't been cleaned properly.
