I may be ordering a surround receiver from the US.

Its $917.50 US shipped. That includes a 2 yr international warranty, since the warranty won't be honored here in Canada

Seller is using UPS.

What can I expect to pay?

Order it express. You'll pay more for shipping but brokerage is included. You'll only pay tax.

I agree with the above. If you do go with normal shipping, then you'll get charged like $100 for brokerage probably? Go check their site, it tells u how much they will charge you depending on the item value.

Regular ground rate is $57.
Express is $205.

I highly doubt I will be paying $150 brokerage fee,

Well if you're shipping with UPS, you'd be in for a surprise. They rip you off bigtime with their brokerage fees. I remember buying some interior car trims (used) for $40 CAD, when it was delivered i ended up paying another $45 something on top in extra fees (taxes, duties, brokerage etc.). So i basically paid double.

UPS Rates Here: http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html

For US$9xx (which is less than CDN$900) the brokerage charge should be $55.58

You almost for sure pay GST and PST as well (and probably including the shipping and the brokerage charge)

Is it a crapshoot? Or can I call someone at UPS to confirm?

So now, brokerage fee (http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html)will be $55.58 + taxes + duty.

I remember seeing a calculator posted on here not too long ago.

*edit* Here it is http://www.thefinalcost.com/

So in my case, its better to ship slow and cheap, + $55.58 brokerage fee than to ship epxress for $205 and no brokerage fee.

How do I determine the duties?

AS far as CBSA is considered (brokerage fees aside)

Well more than likely you will only be paying PST and GST.

Depending on where it was made.. (outside of NAFTA) there may be another 6.1% duty rate for the reciever. But more than likely the only taxes you will be paying is GST and PST.

How much will expedited (2 day) cost? It's cheaper then express (1 day) but it also included brokerage.

You'll also pay the 4.25 COD fee and 2.7% of the tax as a bond fee.

Hello All,

I have a similar question, but the shoes will be coming from Australia. Does anyone know how much all the extra costs will be?

I have found the shoes in a range of prices. On ebay, I have found them for $175 AUS$, and other Australian sites, they go for $100 plust taxes, all in Australian dollars. So I am trying to figure out which will be the best/cheapest way to get them to Canada. The ebayer would list them as a gift with a value of less then $25.

What is the best way to have the item shipped? Regular mail, air, sea or express?

Thanks,
pogs
