E222872 AC BH5006 68GL

horrible output and EXTREMELY horrible quality

purchased a handful of them... and more than half didn't WORK.... they also don't last very long either, despite using LEDs which are supposed to last practically "forever"

so if you're looking for energy saving LED nightlights, DO NOT BUY GLOBE

any other suggestions or brands to recommend or avoid?

I swear, everything Globe makes is garbage. We bought several Globe light fixtures that were pure garbage. Some were bought at HD and went straight back, one was bought at CT and they refused to take it back, even though it was clearly defective. It was a bathroom fixture with 3 lights on a bar. The weld on the bar was broken and the nipple holding the bar to the base was literally broken in half. CT said deal with Globe, which we did..... for months! In total I must have emailed them 20 times over about 4 months and emailed tons of pictures of the issue. They finally, again after months, decided that it wasn't their problem and CT must have mishandled it. By that point CT was really having nothing to do with a refund or exchange. All in all, we won't touch Globe (or CT) at all....

All my LED plug-in night lights are Globe. DId you buy them from Walmart? If you did you can return them for a refund or exchange.

I didnt encounter any problems with them and in terms of output, you cant expect much if the are 0.3W.

I am luckier, I bought more than six of these, some are cylinders, some are cube. They all work great for almost 2 years.

I bought two at CT, they both died within days. Returned them, got two more, which also died. CT person said they had a lot of returns for them, 'must have been a bad batch', she said.

I took a credit and bought something else instead. I picked up a outlet cover night light at TRU that has worked fine ever since.

I found that the LED night lights did not light up the room at all:mad: . Nothing beats the old fashioned 4-7 watt night lights :)

Also need to purchase some outdoor Christmas lights soon but found the CT Noma (large bulbs) in warm white not very bright:( . I am almost tempted to get the traditional Christmas lights even though they use more energy

heh no doubt the older incandescent christmas lights are much brighter

that'll never change until manufacturers utilize modern LED technology, but that will jack up the price to insane levels :|

Just purchased the traditional lights yesterday & can't wait to put them up:D They look so much better than LED's plus the price diff. was $85. I doubt I will use that much in energy in the next 1 1/2 months, so can't justify paying for LED's plus they just don't look that good IMO vs. traditional lights.

Maybe one day when they improve them I will invest my $$ into LED's but for now will stick with good old traditional lights :)

F.Y.I.

I had the same prblm with my 2 pack. I e-mailed them at info@globe-electric.com and they responded very quickly and efficiently. In exchange for my 2 defective LED night lights, I obtained 4 new ones of a different style. They work GREAT. Talk about awesome customer service:razz: If only all manufacturers stood behind their products as did Globe. Give them a try, what have you got to lose. You're already out a few night lights anyways.

Most of those night lights are garbage because they overdrive the LED to get decent light out of them. They don't bother using more than 1-5 LEDs which is why they overdrive them.

Once you over drive LEDs that last forever claim goes in the toilet as it degrades exponentially and they don't use good ones like Nichia they go with cheap chinese clones that degrade even faster.

We have night lights like this one (not this brand, but similar)

Basically that whole block area gives off a nice greenish blue glow (kind of like the Indiglow watches), enough to light up a hallway or bathroom quite nicely. I don't know the actual stats but the packaging says you can run them 24/7/365 and it will cost you less than $0.03 - so they must be pretty efficient.

I got mine at Princess Auto for a buck but have also seen them at other places. They might have them at Great Canadian Dollar Store.

EDIT: This is a better example this is more like the ones we have:

I bought 3 dual packs of these, out of six total lights 3 were duds plus one was kinda 1/2 working. So what did i do, took 4 back for exchange, great... but again 2 of those 4 worked...went back again, finally after 3 returns I ended up just keeping the first two original ones that worked. Guess what 2 months later first one burnt out, the last one about four months..... wow great product! DONT BUY GLOBE PRODUCTS........ALL CRAP!

Just to inform everyone else... a regular night light does use a lot of electricity indeed!
They usually have 4-7watt light bulbs.... Which is a lot for something that you wont notice most of the time.

Don't they have night lights with a motion sensor so they don't stay on all the time? In that scenario, it really wouldn't use much electricity.

I sleep in my living room on the couch sometimes in the summer and I find that even all the LED lights (not white) from my computer, TV, stereo, etc. seem to give off a bit of light here and there.

Motion sensors themselves use electricity. I don't have numbers to back me up but I suspect a 4w night light with a motion sensor would use more power than the above Indiglow type night light running all the time.

As someone mentioned... Motion detectors do use a bit of energy (not that much tho), but i believe they emit an IR-LED non-stop. But as far as i know... I havent seen any motion detected night lights, only darkness detection lights...

Anyways... if you wanna stay green I see those indiglo night lights @ dollarama. They are dirt cheap. They use up 0.25watts of energy, so having them on non-stop will barely use any energy @ all!

At Dollarama, they have an LED replacement bulb that fits in the night light socket. It was rated at 7 watts which is the same as the regular bulbs. I suspect it would be less bright. Looking at the rectified diodes on the circuit board I thought it should use less than 7 watts. Next time perhaps I will try it.
