For those of us with Amerifriends or US-based postal boxes (not sure if they actually ship to P.O. boxes)... Amazon (not broadway camera again ;) ) has the Nikon D40 Kit for $489 which is roughly $475 CAD today.

Lowest price ever seen so far. The next would still be the PM off Broadway camera at Future Shop for $30 more...

BTW, just got a Pentax K100D Super 6.1 Mpixels Kit for $599 at FS. They price matched an old offering I got from Henrys....It is like the D40, but with Shake Reduction, Dust Removal and AF motor on the body. You get 2 years warranty from Pentax Canada.

But it's a Pentax. Aren't the big two Nikon and Canon? Sony, Pentax, Olympus DSLRs just don't have the lens selection of the big two... (at least that's why i think they're the big two).

I don't know where you get your information from, but this is 100% FALSE. Nikon warranty is INTERNATIONAL. The one requirement for Nikon warranty is that the country of purchase stamped on the receipt must match the country on the warranty card. That's all. So you can buy a lens in Hong Kong, with HK receipt and warranty card, and it would be covered in Canada. This is just to exempt grey market items. Simple as that.

But I believe the advantage of buying Canadian is that our DSLRs are warranted for 2 years, while everywhere else only gets 1. But someone might want to verify this.

Not worth the hassel to buy from the US to save 40-50 dollars and risk not having warranty. If you were buying a more expensive camera and the savings were more than it might be worth it.

You get it shipped to a friend in the US or for those of use close to the border we can use a package receiving service like packageexpress.com.
