I think the refurb Philips 5982 from FD might be a better buy even though the Philips is $10 more.

This unit did not work well at all with the avi (divx/xvid) that I threw at it. Video was fine, audio (mp3) was not. It would sometimes play the audio. Turn the unit off, come back later, and the same file would not play again with any audio. Maybe I got a lemon unit but I wasn't happy with it. Got a Philips DVP5982 (factorydirect.ca has them for $49 refurbished) and it works well, plus has front USB which makes life easier for me.
