I just went by the street that Lick's used to be on, Bank st.
I hadn't been down that way in at least 2 months and saw they have closed up their restaurant.
The listing is no longer on their website as well.

So disapointed as their veggie burgers and onion rings were quite good!
But they were kind of expensive if you did not have a SPC card or coupons.

I guess it will be back to Harvey's for me now....

I think I'll have a Lick's burger tomorrow in the greatest city on Earth, the true capital of Canada...Toronto!

Go to the works instead - better burgers, less signing!

(only in Ottawa.. sorry center-of-the-universe people)

The Works is pretty good. I like their sweet potato fries

I have been meaning to try the Works :)
I don't eat beef burgers, but hear they have a pretty good veggie burger.
I do like sweet patatoes, so sounds pretty good.

Lick's was a good deal though, with the SPC card and was near my house.
The Works is kind of out of the way most of the time for me...while Licks was 5 not even minutes from my place...

Well, there is still the Swiss Chalet veggie burger- that is walking distance for me :)

I will go to the Works though...just don't always feel like spending $15 for a burger and fries....

Swiss Chalet you also get a free appatizer when u order online for all meals, so that is always tempting too...they have the same burgers as Harveys...but the chalet fries....

Honestly I haven't been to a Licks in a long time, did something change? Licks is the best! They were expensive, but the size, quality and fun atmosphere (singing staff) were worth it.

A while back they lost their Yonge St store in Toronto opposite the Eaton Centre when the building got knocked down along with all the others on the blcok for something else -- it was tradition for me to go there for lunch went I went shopping there so was greatly disappointed to see it go. Then my nearest location in Newmarket closed down earlier this year. Meanwhile, Oakville has THREE locations with 2 more next door in Burlington!

Ah, but you Ottawonians, all hope is not lost.

"Immediate opportunities are available for Master Franchises in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ottawa regions."

And for those of you with a Lick's nearby, take advantage of their current promotion: $1 burger when you buy med drink+lg fries. (their drinks are extortionate though). Should total $5.68 - not bad.

terrible news - i was just there 2 weeks ago

personally - i'd rather not wait 45 minutes for a burger at The Works, and who gives a f**k if they put kraft dinner and brie cheese on it

I've been to the Kanata Works once in the summer and they had elk burger from the Kanata Elk Ranch. It was very tasty and much less fatty. Probably only a seasonal promo though. I usually go to the Beechwood one and that one is moving in January (as told by one of the servers).

Well, I just read in some newspaper that the Work's people want to sell franchises of their restaurant.
No idea where i read that, but it was somewhere this week.

Not sure on any of the details of that or anything,

kraft dinner on a burger just sounds gross. kraft dinner is just gross anyways:lol:
