Any major concerns with purchasing refurbished wireless routers?
More specifically, i'm looking into buying this one from CanadaComputers

The reviews from cnet are pretty good.

I bought the a refurb wired Netgear (fs114) and there was a problem with the router. It kept disconnecting from Rogers even after I updated firmware. I returned it for another unit and the one has been fine and looks new.
I asked the CC tech how Netgear refurbs their equipment and he wasn't really sure.
Just something to know.

It really depends on what was wrong with it in the first place and who did the refurbing...
I purchased a refurb Netgear unit and it worked fine at first and then it crapped out. After looking at on the web, it seems that the new Netgear units had the same issues.
So, long story short - it was refurbed to new condition - unfortunately, it was crap new as well!

I bought a refurbed SMC 802.11b router back in the day from FactoryDirect. It's still going - although it needs a reboot every now and then (unplug and replug the power). Your mileage may vary.. :)

I bought the same model refurb from Frys (down in US) a while ago... except it's a bit scrachy on the surface, everything works fine. Updated to the latest firmware and it's working pretty nicely for a couple months already.

I've got two Netgear routers. The refurb one is still going strong. The one I bought new had to be sent back for warranty service. Fortunately, it's working fine after that.
