Thought I'd start one for Reviews, Tips and General Help.
I decided to go only with the 8GB because I find the 16GB way too much. I returned the new 8GB Nano and went with touch instead. It's charging right now.

depending on the quality, they usually end up to be about 400-500MB after encoding

It's all personal preference really. I have about 6-7GB of music, 500MB of photos, and I wanted additional space for some videos and have 3 on my 16GB at the moment. So in my case 8GB was insufficient and for the extra $120, double the storage is actually quite the value. If I had to of only needed the 8GB I'd of just gotten the iPhone but since a 16GB was available I just went for that because I recently bought a new cell. But to each their own...

Would it make sense to purchase it at apple.com for $299 instead of 329 + tax here in Canada. Thanks.

Thats cool, I would've got the 8GB, but they didn't have any in the states in stock, so I had to get the 16GB (I wasn't pay almost $400 for 8GB after taxes).

To be honest who actually listen or watch 80/160GB of music or movies or pictures ? it would take about 2 years to listen to all those songs back to back

If your talking to me? Then yeah.
This is the way I thought of it...
I come back to Canada and spend $329.99 + taxes = $376.18 for the 8GB, or I buy the 16GB in the States for $399.99 + their taxes (8.75%) = 433.91 US (which = Canadian). So basically for an extra $50, I got double the space.

It's not about listening to the music back to back. It's about being able to hold as much as you want without having the need to take stuff out when you want to put new stuff in.
Not to mention that with the classics and nano, you can also use the space like an external hard drive. It's very handy. The Touch, however, isn't capable of this.

Got mine over the weekend.
Using it just for movies and Safari.
Gonna use my 2nd gen Nano 8GB for music still.
Pros:
- Love the touch interface
- great screen for video and photos
- Thin physical size
- Safari web browser
- easy to use user interface
- one push button to rule them all
- slideshow is cool
- built in YouTube application
- built in iTunes application lets you buy music directly from the Ipod with wi-fi connection.
Cons:
- crappy video support (some divx movies work, some don't when converting, could just be the software I'm using. Videora.)
- shiny chrome back side, they should have went matte. My finger prints are everywhere!
- no Flash support for Safari
- no built in instant messenging software (tried using Meebo for MSN, can send messages but cannot receive!!)
- gets really hot after using it for an hour or two for movies
- despite thin size, still feels like a paperweight in my pants pocket and while holding it
- Lastly, cannot view full 3mp photos on my own website!! Was planning to use it to supplement my notebook for potential client meetings with my photography business...
I have 2 weeks so I'm still evaluating it, I don't know if I want to keep it just yet.
Lastly, you would think YouTube would make it easier for you to download videos to copy to the Ipod Touch if its integrated into the Ipod Touch as is. Some links allows you to via Videora, while some others it does not. What the gay?
So far after 2 days, I'm 51% satisfied and 49% unsatisfied. Great gadget but could use some smoothing out.
6.5/10 for now.

Has anyone seen cases/skins available in any stores for the ipod touch? I really like how the back is shiny, but the finger prints drive me nuts. On belkin's site and griffen's site they have some hard cases that I would love to get my hands on, just haven't seen them anywhere. Anyone have any luck besides ebay?

I've used iSkin for my devices and its that silicone material so it helps against drops and stuff. A hard case won't protect shock. And I think iSkin has come to Best Buy and FutureShop, maybe elsewhere too. Or... just order online :) www.iskin.com
I have since moved to those invisible shields. They don't protect against drops or anything, but its basically like a sticky film you put on and it is GREAT against scratches. I really can't scratch mine, even when I try with my keys! You can get it from www.shieldzone.com or www.bestskinsever.com

Unfortunately iskin has yet to release a case for the touch at this point. I'm going to purchase one once it comes available, but for now I just received my skin from bestskinsever and I must say after letting it sit for a day it looks awesome! Not 100% perfect but now at least I can use my touch the way it was meant! :cheesygri

Not too long I don't think. I also didn't have any issues with bubbles. I found it rather easy to squeeze them to the edges. Just make sure you do follow the instructions and do get it wet because it does help

Good advice! Only took them 5 business days to ship it to me. And they sent me 2 by mistake! :D
Just don't be sacred to soak each side as it will give you more time to squeeze out the bubbles and set the skin in proper place.

I ordered 2 just incase I mess up the first one.. hopefully they arrive soon.. probably early next week and I just read the instructions about getting the skins wet before applying.. different, but if it works, I'll follow them.

I will be updating it soon though, I wanna get rid of an application and make room for Mail (I do have room, but I just don't want to have more than 1 page, cause you can have multiple pages).
If I could figure out how to get rid of that stupid iTunes button at the bottom I would, cause thats completely pointless for me.

yes, it will void the warranty. However, it's easy to revert to original state using restore in iTunes so, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Definitely hard using the touch interface. For most videogames I'll need physical buttons to be able to play a game, but its works well if you can get used to it.

After 2 weeks, I decided to return mine. Great thing is, the guy did not even charge me the 10% restocking fee like they said they would on the receipt. Yay Apple Store Yorkdale.
Returned it because I was disatisfied with the lack of Flash and Javascript support in Safari and mediocre video support. Wifi is never free at most places I go to so downloading videos is a no go. You can't even save videos you download from YouTube, at least not 100% foolproof using 3rd party software.

Just wanted to say thanks for the link. I thought I was SOL with a touch that went through jailbreakme.com but then would not show up in itunes. Everything was laggy and iTunes would not find the iPod so I could not restore like normal.
Thought my unit was a $300 8mm brick, but it turns out the force restore was gold. Time to go exchange my unit because there is something wrong with the battery calibration, weird that I seem to be the only one with this issue, week 39 unit.
