This is the "budget" energy drink launched by Magna's Frank Stronach last Spring.
- Anyone actually seen it in any store or any restaurant? (Where?)
- Anyone actually tried it? (What flavour, what did you think?)
- How much did you pay for it?
- Finally how does it compare to your favourite energy drink?

Stronach said he was apprehensive when approached by two Austrian entrepreneurs about lending his name to the drink, which contains 80 milligrams of caffeine and 1,000 grams of taurine, a naturally occurring amino acid, according to the newspaper.

"I said, 'You guys gotta be crazy, I don't want a drink named after me," Stronach told the Globe and Mail. "Finally I sort of gave in and said, 'Yeah, you can use my name'." Stronach said he also invested a couple of hundred thousand dollars in the drink company that also sells a bottled water in Austria called Magna Via.

While he has lent his name and money to the drink, Stronach was non-committal when asked whether he drinks it. "Ask me that in 70 years," the 74-year-old Stronach said. I've never tried it, never seen it in person, and to be honest never even looked for it. But I just remembered seeing Gene Simmons "launch" the drink in Toronto earlier in the year and realized I hadn't heard of it since.

Is Frank's Energy a flop, or do I need to get out more?

I saw some at a Quickie in Ottawa and they had a coupon last week for a free can when u bought the paper that day.

But I happen to be at the Quickie near my house, which is the "really ghetto" quickie and when I went to get one of the smaller cans a lot of them were leaking and dented.

So even for "free" I didn't get to try the drink.

I did see there was a yellow can pineapple one they make that looks neat.
I should probably go to another Quickie location, if you go to Herongate mall...the whole mall is really ghetto

I've had it a few times. It was on sale at rabba a while back so I bought 4 of them. (think they were 2 for 1.99) They are pretty much just as good as red bull in terms of how it gets you wired. The taste of energy drinks is always the same to me. I'm sort of indifferent to it. I saw the pineapple one at my local 24 hour ripoff grocery store and it cost $2.50 for one. I bit. They taste different but it's got that same energy drink taste to it regardless.

I've been meaning to check out that 5-hour one I've only recently seen. Saw an ad that wasn't flashy at all and looked more like an infomertial.

Thanks for the replies so far, keep 'em coming.

So we've got Ottawa and GTA, anyone seen it outside of Ontario?

I actually prefer Frank's over Redbull, although they tasted quite similar.

I know they're readily available at Mac's and at Rabba.
