DDR2 Ram speeds and *not* overclocking

I have a E6600 Core 2 duo processor (p965 mobo), and I don't plan on overclocking it. If I use faster DDR2 ram (ie PC2-6400) will it use the full bandwidth or will it just clock down to PC2-4200 speeds?

Is the faster ram just for overclockers?

It will run at DDR2-800 clock with a 2:3 ratio. It will be faster than DDR2-533 whether you notice it or not.
