Hey!

Yesterday, I reformatted my computer and gave the latest Outpost version a try. Wow! This thing crashed several times during the initial tests, especially in Entertainment mode with VLC. It failed the test and I'll gladly uninstall it tonight.

I was wondering... What's the most stable firewall? I don't care if some others are 10% safer, I just want a nice, light, stable firewall that'll run without crashing and bothering me every 5 minutes.

Thanks!
Regards

there have been several threads about this. for the novice user, probably Zone Alarm. however enthusiasts find that bloated so Kerio has been hands down the best for me. i prefer version 2.1.5 - it's light weight. you can also pm me with your email and i'll send a copy over.

Comodo is the probably the best free firewall

I also use Kerio 2.1.5 but its definitely a bit outdated but good enough for basic purposes.

A hardware firewall. Build a linux box out of an old pc for a firewall, but if you want something to watch your outgoing connections, then DONT go with norton.

what the heck is so good about comodo? 8mb for a software firewall whose only purpose is to play traffic cop is kind of inflated compared to kerio which btw is also free, and only 2mb. i'll give comodo a shot on my laptop, but i doubt it'd best kerio.

This seeems like an informative read for those deciding on a good firewall program.

Comodo Personal Firewall 3.0 will be out and it will only use 2 mb of ram.

If you want stable then avoid zonealarm, it's some of the most unstable software I've ever used.
