All i know of is Nami.

i'll be sure to check some of them out. Does anyone know of a place that has the traditional tatami mat to eat?
all is appreciated.
Thanks.

There's also Ki in the BCE place, that's if you want overpriced and slightly better than average japanese food.

i wouldn't really consider ki to be authentic japanese
i think it's modernized japanese and the atmosphere is totally westernized with a ambience that tries to mimic a japanese feel.
that and like you said.. OVERPRICED.

if you are located in Scarboro...I would recommend Zen (at brimley and eglinton)
sushi is fresh
and the "black" sesame ice cream is awesome :cheesygri
they do not serve Jap Curry. It's a sushi restaurant.
I would recommend the Japanese Curry with breaded pork at Fujiyama. It's Japanese operated also.
It really depends on what you want. Japanese is pretty varied.
For Teppanyaki, I would recommend Yamato in Yorkville.
and of coz you'd probably know about J-town...but it's more of a lunch thing and much much more casual

Hahaha, a friend of mine works over there... he's shared plenty of stories with me about the essentially senile owner. :cheesygri :D

+1 for Tokyo grill. (just north of yonge and wesley, on the west side)
authentic and awesome food, wonderful atmosphere, good portions, cheap price, last but not least, cute and friendly waitress, what more could you ask for?
ematei is also very authentic, but it is more expensive and upscale. Tokyo Grill is at the same price level as most other restaurants. no frigging AYCE though, THANK GOD.
