so Arrgh, what's your point? considering my last post said it was already sold.

just to humor you, some people may have a plain white or black goalie mask and could be considering putting on their own design. What better way to do that then to use old street hockey masks to test it out before do it on a $300+ helmet.

Please dont' crap on other people's thread. If you don't have something productive to so, keep your comments to yourself.

This seller is dishonest, and refuse to rectify the situation privately.

I'm the buyer of the 3 "project masks" which the seller described as "3 project street hockey masks. use them for street hockey, or practice your air brushing skill or try out a new design"

This means the 3 masks CAN be used for street hockey, or try painting over for new designs. I thought they would be good for my kids to play street hockey with.

The seller indicated he can meet at Union station. I had my wife (who takes the TTC and works downtown) pickup and pay for the masks, before the seller catches his GO train. She did not know the details of the transaction, and just took the bag home. We believed in the seller. We have bought many things before this way, and fortunately all other RFD sellers are honest, and described their items truthfully.

When she got home and I looked at the masks, only 1 mask is usable. The other 2 masks are broken. There were no foams on the mask (all fallen off), one was missing the back piece. The straps were either missing or broken. There were many pieces of loose or broken foams. These 2 masks could NOT be used. They could NOT easily be fixed either.

I did not buy those masks for painting. I bought those, as the seller described, to "use them for street hockey". When I pointed out the ads were deceiving or misleading, his response was "If you thought the ad was misleading you should have asked more questions."

He indicated "project" masks means "fixer uppers", and "$10 for 3 masks, what do you expect?"

I did try to settle this privately with the seller, asking to have my wife meet and return the masks and get a refund. The seller refused.

Yes, $10 is not a lot of money. But the principal for any seller is to be honest. When there is disastisfaction on the buyer, then making a comment that it is still a bargain when 1 out of the 3 masks is usable, is not resolving the issue. I kept my end of the transaction, paying for 3 masks to "use them for street hockey". Unfortunately, 2 out of the 3 were not usable.

actually here's my full reply to you via PM.

Re: Issue with 3 project street hockey masks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did offer to show your wife the mask, and yes she said she did not know anything about the transaction. Like you said one of them is useable for street hockey. If you thought the ad was misleading you should have asked more questions. Yes project...ie fixer upper...again for $10 for 3 masks, what do you expect? Even $10 for 1 functional mask is a bargin. I can live with myself as i do not think my ad was dishonest. I'm not going to argue against your wife since of course you will believe her over me, but i did offer to show her the masks before money changed hands. Yes i did have to catch my train but i also offered to meet during the day or at lunch so meeting after work was not my attempt at a quick sell and run. $10 for 3 project masks...both ends of the deal was completed.

Think about it logicially...my intension is to meet up and sell the masks. Normally i meet up with the intending buyer. (How was i supposed to know you were going to buy the mask and have your wife pick it up when i wrote the ad?) The masks were in a plastic bag...it was not wrapped up and hidden from view. Again in any transaction i've done, the item was aways inspected before the exchange. How was I supposed to know your wife knew nothing about what you were buying? If it was you picking up the masks, and it not what you intended, you wouldn't have paid me and no hard feelings. It's not like i tried to ship it to you or tried to have your wife meetup.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Masks were in a plastic Dollarama bag. I gave your wife the option to inspect the bag. You said your wife said I did NOT want to show the masks, I won't be able to convince you otherwise, but be logically. Can't stop her for checking. Your wife did not know the transaction, who's fault is that? You did not ask more questions, who's fault is that?

Yes details on the ad was not clear...as you can see I'm selling a few items, can't describe all the items 100%. No one's going to read every single little detail It's a quick description. You are buying the item, ask more questions. I described it as project masks. It was a mis-understanding.

Sell wasn't even done on rfd, it was on craigslist.

My ad stated to meet up in Richmond Hill, Markham, Scarborough. You requested your wife to meet me at Union Station, so don't go telling me I planned to take the money and run. If you met up with me, you would have gotten the same masks and could have inspected it yourself. You choose not to, you requested your wife to meet me, so don't go placing blame because you didn't do your job.

This seller just gave me a negative feedback, after taking my money. I kept my end of the bargain, he didn't. But he gave me a negative feedback, because I gave him a negative feedback.

As everyone can see from this guy's response, he sold the items not as described, and now even admits there are "mis-understanding" about the items. He also admits "Yes details on the ad was not clear".

He advertised masks with words "use them for street hockey". But they cannot be used for street hockey because they are broken. That is false advertising.

He said the sale wasn't done on RFD, but in craiglist. Everyone can see that he advertizes here in RFD, with a link to "pictures" that is really a list of his sales items in craiglist that has pictures. He then claims the sale was not done in RFD?!?

Well, this ad and this sale was done from RFD with link to craiglist. He has now removed the original craiglist ad and the pictures there. The pictures he showed were the front of the masks, but not the back or inside of the masks that were missing foams or straps or backpiece.

He said:
My ad stated to meet up in Richmond Hill, Markham, Scarborough. You requested your wife to meet me at Union Station

But it was him who originally has in his original post:
Can meet up for some items during weekdays near Union station....also Markham / Scarborough during the week-ends.
So it was him to have originally indicated he can meet in Union station.

Yes there was "misunderstanding". There was misunderstanding that the masks can be "used for street hockey", but they CANNOT "be used for street hockey".

yes i advertise here and craigslist and other forums. I've taken down the pics and link for the things i've sold. As you can see it was taken down before you started crapping my thread. I have the emails to show deal was through craigslist. Mods can check, no PM or reply to my thread till after the deal was done. So that makes you a lair. I generally don't use the BST feedback unless other RFD memebers like to use it. Deal was done. Positive Pre-trade experience, meet up was fine, but post trade experience was negative. You told me to be honest, so I'm just rating my overall experience with you.

Honestly...masks can be used for street hockey...a bucket with eyes holes can be used for street hockey. Project masks to me may mean something different to you. Why did you not ask more questions? I see in your other posts you ask questions about items you are interested in. Why not in this case? You post on other people thread with your question. You did not in this case. I did not force you to have your wife meet up with me. I could have met up with you someother time, at which at time you could have said no.

I'm done with you, please don't crap my thread anymore.

Any Rfd members or Mods can PM me if that have any concerns or questions.

Be warned about this seller.

This is dishonest seller. What he sold -- masks that in his words can be "used for street hockey", are masks foams fall off, no back piece and straps missing or broken. They cannot be used for street hockey. You cannot even put the mask on your face to stay on.

It's not about the $10. It's about the principal of being honest in describing the stuff being sold.

So be warned. If after he takes your money, you find something wrong with his stuff, don't expect to get your money back. If you then leaves a negative feedback with him, expect him to also leave you a negative feedback, even though you keep your end of the transaction by paying him in full and he didn't.

Be careful of this guy's reputation.

thanks for the bump Arrgh.

Always becareful when purchasing items from myself and anyone else.
Feel free to ask questions on any items you are interested in. If the seller refuses to answer your questions, something's up. Descriptions usually are pretty vague in most sell posts so make sure you let the seller know what you are looking at using the item for.

For example the goalie catchers, someone asked me if they were Jr. or Sr. gloves and that they are intersted in using it for high level ball hockey. Also someone asked how long they were used for and what condition they were in. As they were not project gloves they were in good condition and ready to be used right away but using they as practice gloves to paint on them would be a waste of money.

When meeting any seller make sure you inspect the items first. Try them on and ask more questions. If you are asking someone else to pick up the items for you, make sure that person is aware of what you are buying and have them inspect the items as well. If there are any questions, hopefully they are able to call you to clarify any details. (shipping items is a different story, that's why i don't like to ship items unless requested)...if shipping items, ask the seller to put it on ebay or pay by paypal or something like that so that there can be some sort of recourse.
