Im sure many of you know by now but in case some of you do not. As of Feb 14, 07...Gamestop/EB games changed their policy on their warranty for defective consoles. Its still the $40USD/$50CDN per year and used to be over the counter replacement for a brand new unit. Now? Its still over the counter, but you get a crappy refurbished one. Its fine by me that they are changing the policy, no surprise from EB games. Now, if you bought your console before the Feb 14th date, they will still honour the old policy and hand you a new one - I thankfully am and would qualify for a new one.
But heres the part I dont like, and think its unfair to the customer. Since its by their policy to charge you another $40/$50 upon exchange (because you have to renew your warranty each time), even if you bought your console before the policy change...you simply still do NOT get a choice if you want to renew or not . Frankly, I would only pay for thier warranty if they give you a brand new one, I mean it totally defeats the purpose if you are getting refurbished.
I think since they changed it, they should give people the option to renew or not if the customer bought their system before the policy change. It only makes sense...

Everything about EB is a scam.
I'm, not sure about Sony, but Nintendo offers 1 year unconditional warranty on all their hardware, and Microsoft is offering 3 years on the 360, so buying a warranty on those is just stupid.
Don't get me started on buying a warranty on your sealed games.

Does EB still do that crap where they don't even have the games SEALED?
Like they have them in some stupid envelope in the drawer, then sell it as "new", and put that ******** sticker that never comes off.
When you buy games from other places, you don't get stickers that don't come off ;)
I hate EB Games.

Yea they do that, i was going to purchase Heavenly Sword and the guy pulled the game out of the envelope and the empty case from behind him and put that clear sticker on and the guy was still going to charge 60 bucks, i just walked off and went to Futureshop where that the time were selling it for $49.99 last week.
I refuse to shop at EB, the people don't know nothing about games.

Never buy warranties from stores. If you don't know that yet, well, learn now.
If they try and sell you a gutted game, ask them for a sealed one. Unless it's a really old game they should have sealed ones in the glass behind the counter or in the back room. I only really get games there if they're rare and hard to find, or if I pre-ordered due to the trade 3 for free. Or if I pre-ordered since I was paranoid about not being able to find the game.

Yeah, no kidding.
I wonder if EB has ever been scammed by using those stupid stickers, cause I certainly would.
If you know someone that works retail, you can get those stickers easily. Open up the gamecase, take out the game, seal it back up and return it to the store.

lol. The first time that it happened to me, I was like WTF!? I've opted for a sealed one from futureshop, which was surprisingly $5 cheaper.
