I was told this today by my local store, they said now they have changed everything to 7 days on new or used stuff (defective or not)..it used to be 30 on defective and 14 on refunds. wow 7 days is BS. Guess they really want the customer to get the $3 scratch protection.

Damn, now they suck even more IMO. Not like they have gotten a lot of my business for the past few years, but now gives me even less of a reason to shop there given most retailers allow for a 90 day warranty. Wonder if the stores will be rebranded in Canada, as I'm sure many young/uneducated gamers have no idea what Gamestop is given there solely found in the US at this point.

Not much to do with Canada. Although the US branch is their parent company, they act VERY differently.

I agree, EB is horrible...their prices are never competitive and it's a hassle to return anything...i don't even know why people still shop there.

Can anyone tell me if you can still return your game (PC or PS3 games) there once it's opened and played? Few years ago, I was always able to, I just told them the games sucked which they did but have not tried it recently. They were for PC, not sure if it made a difference?

Nope, you can't.

I doubt it was a few years ago, maybe like 7 years ago ya... cause back then, it wasn't as easy to burn games.. now you just run some 3rd party program, and it starts burning in minutes.

Woah. Lots of you guys not shopping at EB Games =o You all must have missed out on a lot of deals! With Trade 3 for Free, I fully pre-ordered around half the games I want this year for $30 - $40 each. So about 50% off.

It's about people abusing them as a free rental (just like Costco). It was solely at the discretion of the manager/staff before and now it's official policy.
Yea I agree about the pricing (they DO pricematch) especially of used goods but they do have the odd promo where trading in old titles are a good way to clear your shelves.
I'm kicking myself for not buying their stock 3 years ago (same as Nintendo).

WHOA.

FREEZE FRAME.

the whole reason i GO TO EB GAMES is for their 3 dollar 1 year warranty...then 10 months later, i go in, get a BRAND NEW COPY, and sell it for full price and make almost 3/4 of my money back!

and hell, its even better for sytems....20 bucks for a ps2 warranty, i plan on taking mine in soon (its been 11 months) and they'll give me a BRAND NEW ps2 and then i put 20 bucks more down and i basically just bought a new ps2 for 40 bucks (20 bucks 11 months ago, 20 bucks now)...i'd say thats a fair trade!

never mind the fact YOU MUST NOT HAVE BEEN TO THE CANADA EB GAMES.

all 3 stores in my area have the NICEST employees ever...never mind the girls there are HOT.

and yes, i've heard AWFUL things about the states eb games/gamestop, but from what i've been around for the last 5 years here in central british columbia, they hire some of the newest people on the planet! sure, on a rare, really overwhelming occasion they may get a bit grumpy, but that happens maybe once every blue moon! i go to eb games every week and buy new games and i'd shop nowhere else...future shop has a no returning OPENED games, cds, dvds policy so its worthless to go there, and as far as i know, eb games in canada still has 30 days return policy, and a 14 day refund...though they do put seals on all there cases that if its broken, they won't refund it, but they'll exchange it if the games defective within 30 days.

come up to canada, see what kind of nice people our stores have (and not just eb games, most stores as long as they're not really emo teens that work there have very nice, helpful, and friendly employees ALL THE TIME)

thats imo though, make your own mind up

Thats for stores in the states, NOT CANADA. Their policy is STILL 30 DAYS RETURM/EXCHANGE in CANADA. Please change it cause it's confusing people.

I think you only get the same item, and they open it up for you. Imagine buying an online game like Guild Wars, using the CD-key, then bringing it back claiming it's defective. You then get a new game with another CD-key...

+1 With Rogers and Blockbuster sales, I've been able to snag new games and consoles for about 50% off.

I was at the Richmond EB a month or two ago and there were TWO girls working there at the same time. They were decent-looking as well. :D

the employees are rude too!

I find this true - some of them are just too arrogant for their own good. And I cant stand being sirenated with preorder and trade in questions 10 times everytime you buy something. Oh, and they dont PM either so thats a big flaw to me. Or if you find a store that does, its usually $5 tops they PM and they are extremely anal about where it is.

yea I think they should atleast match BB or FS, those places normally sell new games about 10$ cheaper.... and eb games is just like any other retail outlet, some stores have nice people and others are just bitches... I try and go to the one that I like the people that work there lol

for some of the "older" games I find that EB has the better price.

About a month ago, BB/FS was selling the WC3 battlechest for 39.99.
I got it from EB for 29.99.

they have pretty good prices sometimes. EB has MLB Power Pros for 39.99 and Best Buy has it for 49.99.

Another thing is that I was told as of Feb 14, 07...if you bought a system after that date from EB with their warranty, they no longer give you a new replacement but a refurbished. Wow that is crap.

The EB near me, they will only PM if the place is in the same plaza as them. Which is complete bologne. There is a FS in the same strip as them, so they will only PM if that specific FS has the game in stock.

Hi there,

The EB Games near my place (Lasalle) are rude and horrible. *lol* They even try to sell me an "open" game as new. Technically, it's illegal. Once the seal is broken, it's open and not new. Giving them a lecture about it, just didn't ended up buying anything...
