WHich one?
Rock Band = $169.99
GH3 = $99.99?
I like Rock Band's songs more than GH3, but we all know hoe price is a factor!

Buy the one that comes with hoes. Or hos. Or... What were we talking about again?
I suppose it depends what your priorities are. Personally, I'm pretty stoked about getting some Drum Mania type action in my living room, so I'll definitely be picking up RB. And like you, I prefer the RB lineup of songs/bands, which makes my decision that much easier.
If you're only looking at price and songs, then your decision might be more difficult.

Why choose? Why not both? Why not figure out which guitar you like (as long as they are compatible), then buy both games?

Will the GH3 guitar work in Rock Band? I thin they're both suppose to be bluetooth. That'd be so cool if they did. If I get Rock Band, I might get another guitar after that (RB said they'd sell individual accessories), so if I get GH3, I can use the guitar there and still play the few good songs on GH3.
I totally agree that its preference.
EDIT: Harmonix has confirmed Guitar Hero guitar controllers and additional third-party controllers will be compatible with the game.[16][14] The company has also said that should Activision (the current publishers of Guitar Hero III) request it, they can make the Rock Band guitar controller compatible with Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

Everything I've heard has said that the guitars will be compatible, which would be sweet, because if you buy both bundles, you can use the GH3 controller as the bass guitar in Rock Band.
I am personally getting both, I just wish we could get in on some of the preorder perks that the Americans get. Did anyone order GH2 from the RedOctane site when it came out? They have some nice bonus stuff if you order from there:
http://www.redoctane.com/guitarhero3xbox360bundle.html
Pre-Order Promotional Items Include:
(1) Guitar Hero Dual Gig Bag
(1) Guitar Hero Key Chain
(1) Guitar Hero Designer 2" Wide Guitar Strap**

that's pretty cool. The prices are steep if you want both. I want to get GH3, but I really dont like the songs. Activision said they're trying to get more metallica, ACDC and other bands to put songs on later. DO you guys know if we'll have to buy the extra songs like the X360?
I tihnk it'd be alot better, if these kind of games gave us a choice of 40 songs out of a list of 200 so we can customize. SO when we buy the game, it has like a code on the disc so we can put the code in and DL the songs from their website onto the 360/PS3.

the best bet would be too buy rock band, and just use buy a GH3 game only. This way you have all the necessary controllers. Plus, its cheaper to purchase the RB bundle than to go out and buy the extra controllers like a microphone and drum controller.

You don't "have" to buy it.
Speaking about Guitar, Red Octane has yet to confirm that the GH3 controller will be compatible with Rock Band, however, they have confirmed that it won't work with GH1/2/80s on PS2 emulation.
Rock Band's controller has an extra set of buttons on the base of the neck, and a effect button for distortions.

Nooo. That's why I bought the RockBand set for :(
Oh well, I guess I'll have to keep using my PS2 for my old Guitar Heroes stuff

I read somewhere that the extra buttons do the exact same thing as the main buttons, they're just placed at the base of the neck so it looks cool while doing a solo. If that's truly the case, it wouldn't affect compatibility between the two, I just really hope they don't make us buy seperate controllers for both RB and GH.

That's what I was planning on doing, getting Rock Band first, then maybe GH3, but I think GH3 comes out a month before Rock Band...

- no bundled wireless guitar for rockband on xbox 360 - gh3 has the wireless guitar
- better songs on gh3 (slayer!)
- gh3 is cheaper
seems like a no brainer but the drums do look cool on rockband...i really hope the wireless guitar's are compatible with BOTH...

Better songs are definitely a YMMV thing. I trust MTV and EA to push out the DLC a lot faster than Activision. Everyone I've met who've played Rockband have gone on to diss GH as "so last year." And these are diehard GH fans too. Competition is gonna be a great thing, just like .skate vs Tony Hawk. I hope the DLC pricing goes down to near iTunes level as a result of this.

Doubtful you'll see $169Cdn. Highly doubtful. I'm hearing $199 Cdn rumblings from some EA contacts. Hopefully they're wrong.

I'm amazed the Stone Roses made it on GH3 and the upcoming Singstar PS3 game. They never broke into the US, after all.

Well, the developers and publisher are smart enough to know the market is bigger than just the US. For Singstar, they do consider the market when putting in the specific songs but the work's already been done, why not just leave it in there (or put it up as a DLC).

As some previewers have said, Rock Band is not going to melt your hand off like GH3 will, but it's going to be a social experience like you've never seen before.

I'm definately leaning towards Rockband, the bundle price seems pretty decent for all the stuff you get and the track list is better.

Remember you're talking about EA here. They're the ones who charge you to unlock content already included in on the game disc. No one has abused Microsofts DLC pricing worse, although the original GH2 track packs were pretty bad for rereleases of GH1 songs.

Ea put out tracks before Activision? um, ea is pretty slow on the online roster in sports games, 0 as of the start of the season in Hockey, I didn't realize it was hard to assign people to finding out the starting rosters, make a save, and put it on the servers. So if its anything like that, i'd guess not
GH2 has 4 packs, not that its worth it for 3 songs each, but its still progress. Im kind of hoping for a GH1 pack, i'd pay 10-20 bucks for all the songs from the game (not the bonus tracks)
anyways, i'm going with Guitar hero 3, just getting use to it so may as well not change mid-stride. Yay to more money!

We're not exactly sure who owned the rights to songs in GH1 (as it might be Harmonix), which might have been the cause of the delay.

EA knows they are the underdogs in this game. You'd better believe they'll have their guns out and firing on the first just like with .skate
With the sports line, it's their ticket to printing money so they don't really care about your satisfaction.
