Hi Guys,

This is probably the last time I'm going to be a nice guy and let someone go after a minor collision. I got hit while waiting for a red light. The guy didn't have any ID on him but managed to pull out an old insurance card. It turns out that was fake too, the only thing real on it was his name.

Ryan, Tiangco.

This is the number he gave me: 905 896 4779 (No one answers)

I reversed some of his info and it turns out that his address is false and he moved out over a year ago. He's a local in Mississauga, I found out he works on Dundas st. Somewhere.

His plate is 800 KYL. He drives an red van from the 90s.

I want to get this guy so badly, can anyone help??
Anything would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

You should report it to police ASAP.
The guy hit you, give you the wrong info and you asking people to help in RFD......what kind of help you expecting from us?

Report to the police seriously.

Agreed. Not saying that you're lying, but this guy can get in some serious **** if they can prove that he indeed hit your car and provided false information.

Yes, you should report that ASAP. I know a case that the hit-and-run driver called the police and reported the victim was the one who hit-and-run. The hit-and-run driver is a kid and his father is a lawyer.

Yeah I already filed a report yesterday. I'm going back to the station today.

I'm just looking for options, I've never gotten into this kind of situation before.

I just went to the police station again this morning. They said if he gave false info, they'll just look up the plate and everything should show up. They'll contact them and get them to fill out a report (by law). That's what they told me, so I really hope this guy goes down for this.

Please update us on the situation. I'd love to see that guy get nailed for it.

How did you find out he works on Dundas St? Did he tell you that?

Thanks Bobbings.

I reversed the address on his false insurance card. The phone number was different than the one he gave me. I called last night and some guy said he doesn't live there. The guy said he's a friend of his but hasn't seen him for over a year. Last he heard he was working some where on Dundas St. Mississauga Area.

Everything he said was a lie. The only thing I got definitely was the plate number and his name (from the confirmation of his friend last night).

I'm going to call the station this afternoon and see what they say. This morning they said they can look up the plate and get everything. And if that guy doesn't show up there's a whole bunch of things he can get charged for. So we'll see soon.

Big fines, losing license ....... $5000 fine starting

No Insurance a Risk to All
TORONTO (September 12, 2002) - The Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) is warning drivers of the risk of having invalid, or no insurance at all when they are on Ontario roads.

"Some people are just not getting the message" said Bryan Davies, Superintendent of FSCO. "People have to realize how much they could lose if they are in an accident and do not have valid automobile insurance."

A recent OPP blitz on the roads around the GTA led to 29 people being charged with driving without insurance.

People who are caught driving without insurance, or with invalid insurance in Ontario, face a fine starting at $5,000.

Some of the invalid insurance comes through people buying "insurance" online from a barter company.

People who barter perform a service for another member of the barter company and obtain barter dollars for the work they do. They trade barter dollars for other products or services offered through the barter company including insurance. In some cases payments are made through a combination of cash and barter dollars. Barter companies, however, are not licensed to sell insurance.

"Unfortunately people who look at the short term savings don't realize they face a lifetime of payments if they are involved in a serious accident," said Mr. Davies. "They are putting themselves and others at risk."

If people in possession of invalid insurance policies, or no insurance, are involved in an automobile accident they will only be allowed minimal medical and rehabilitation benefits. They will not be allowed to claim wage loss benefits and have lost their right to sue. They may also be personally liable for civil actions for the injuries of the other parties in the accident or other damages that could take a lifetime to repay.

Drivers who have invalid insurance or are driving with no insurance, should immediately contact a licensed insurance vendor to arrange legal insurance.

For more information on automobile insurance in Ontario, drivers can visit the FSCO website at (www.fsco.gov.on.ca).

The website also contains a list of licensed insurance companies and agents, this list is also available by phoning (416) 250-7250 or 1-800-668-0128

I especially like the part "They may also be personally liable for civil actions for the injuries of the other parties in the accident or other damages that could take a lifetime to repay. "

I'm going to call the station at 2-2:30PM. I'll keep everyone updated about his punkass.

If the plate number is real, the police can get him for sure, at least you filed a H&R to police, you can declare to insurance about it. Normally, no deductible or premium increase when there is a police report filed.

Good Luck, and keep us updated.

Just called the Department.

They said don't worry about it. They have that guy's name on some other things that have come up and will do a followup on it.

I think his guy has some things coming his way.

No man. Nothing's coming to him. The cops will just call him up or his insurance company will just call him up.

He will tell them that your claim is frivolous but he did his "good citizen" part and gave you his insurance/contact info despite the lack of damage. Maybe he'll even say there was no collision but you were threatening him. He might even say you on the other hand did not provide him with anything. Since he believes there was no damage on his car, he didn't bother reporting anything.

Don't get too worked up over this. It's not worth your energy.

dude just do your part and let it go. if you were the type to "get even" you would've done something already. let someone else do your dirty work later on. or save it and learn from this time and dish it out next time something like this happens again.

insurance should cover the damage of your car. keep the big picture in mind - you just want your car fixed without your rates from going up. if you get what you want, who cares whether the cops take him to a steak dinner or arrest him and gang rape him in jail.

Level up your EQ!!!!1!!

LOL I guess when you put it like that, I can let it go haha. You are right, I'm not going out of my way to risk my future and reputation to hunt him down.

I do hope I bump into him one day.

Live and Learn haha.
