I didn't say it wasn't worth it. I am saying it would be a whole lot more helpful to offer some specific advice.

Let me just tell him how to run his life for him. All I am saying is that there is a huge thread for that kind of information.

And if it was a 5 page thread, I would be in agreement. In reality, that thread has gotten so huge, it could be it's own forum. It was a specific question that was asked, not a general one

I'm also looking for the same thing. A company who imports cars from the US for you for a fee. I'm also hoping for someone that could help with financing/leasing since you can't do that from the states.

Unfortunately for me, the package that I want on my Sienna isn't available in Canada.

TIA.

There is a company in Oakville named in this article that will import a vehicle for you.

Essentially, this is more along the lines of you telling your lifelong story among other useless crap while teaching him how to fish, totally wasting his and your time.

Why would you want to pay a broker? It's such a simple process and if you are willing to give it some of your time, it's easy to do yourself!

<<<this is what we imported without hassle!!!

a) I've been hearing lots of rumors that it's difficult to find a Toyota dealer willing to sell to Canadians.
b) I'm hoping that a broker could help with leasing or financing said vehicle without a huge interest rate.

Does anyone know if you are able to actually LEASE a vehicle from the states? If so, how competitive are the lease rates compared to Canada?

Has anyone done any comparison on Finance rates as well? I know you are saving quite a bit when you buy a car from the States but I'm wondering if anyone has taken loan interest rate difference into account as well.

For example, let's say there is the following situation (all hypothetical #'s):
Assuming you don't have enough cash in the bank to fully pay off the vehicle that you have in mind and have to borrow/finance/lease/etc.:

Finance rate being offered by Canadian Auto Dealer: 0%
Interest Rate on LOC: Prime +1% (currently 6.25??)

Assuming you borrowed $25K, that comes out to $1812.50 in interest for the first year. So technically, if the price difference of a vehicle was only a difference of $5000, then you would really only be saving $5K-1812.50 = $3187.50. Over the length of the finance period, the savings would decrease by the amount of interest charged on the loan. So I'm wondering how much savings there are with this type of comparison taken into consideration. I know everyone's situation is different, but this is one con against potentially buying from the States - or am I completely missing something here:?: :|

You must pay cash for a car in the US for export. The export process requires that the car be free of liens to export. A leasing or financing company will have a lien to secure the car. The only way to finance a US car purchase is with a Canadian loan, take the cash to the US.

Ahh.. that makes total sense... Thanks CanAm for that clarification. =)
