Hey,
2 part question for you guys:
1. Which set of winter tires should I get this winter? Looking more toward the god sent Blizzaks or Winter sport M3s. Open to any other suggestions of good performance winter tires that are available in 245 18's. These are the only ones I currently am aware of.
2. Any place to get these tires AND cheap, lol. I am looking to get my winter tires for under 1k, but so far it is not looking like that. Tirerack.com has best price at 220/tire but I am not sure about customs and duties will charge on top of that. The Blizzaks 17's are cheaper so I am also considering buying winter rims for the winter and using that. Of course I need the cheap universal winter rims in 17s, which I think they do not make.
If anyone can steer me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Also as a side note, to anyone who wants a carfax, PM me. Some people are too stupid too catch on in the carfax post, so just hit me up with a PM. I am only going to run it for members who have over 350 posts, as I don't like people who just register on our forums to get free crap and leave:evil: .

I can't really recommend getting tyres outside of the US and using sites like TireRack and just-across-the-border installers; however being in Winnipeg I can see how that would not be so easy for you, which kind of sucks :(
As for going with 17s, if they will clear your calipers it's actually a good idea. The minus sized tyre will be more narrow and will be better in the snow/ice ;)

You can get 16" hub-centric steelies from Honda for $320, and at least the Gislaveds from Steelcase Tire for about the same price. Going across the border for less than $100 for that 16" package doesn't make much sense. Don't know about the 17" packages.

My car minimum tire size is 17s, so I can't even do that option. 17's and 18's are what I am looking at with 18's already being my stock rims size, and from what I have seen so far I will probably have to buy them from the states as Winnipeg has crazy rip offs for them. 300/tire for Winter sport M3s versus 190 on tirerack.

Hey guys....don't rule out no name tires. All tires have a DOT code (usually 8 letters or numbers) which indicate where the tire is made and by which company. The link below helps define the manufacturer.
Ie. Wintermark from Wal-Mart is made by Kelly, a devision of Goodyear. Nexen is made by Toyo, so you can get many affordable tires, which are made by reputable companies at a discount.
Enjoy!

Any idea if Bridgestone or Dunlop have a cheaper version? Also Walmart and CT do not carry tires bigger than 17s... How would Toyo's or Goodyear stack up against Bridgestone or Dunlops?
I am thinking about just gettings 17s. Tirerack has a sale on the 17s, can pick them up for 110/tire, versus 200/tire for the 19s. How much do you think it will cost to get some cheap, cheap, universal winter rims, and installed/balanced?

Hmm just found out Blizzaks lose snow compound after 50% tread, so I am not sure if they will meet my needs. Looking at sone X Ice right now, 300/tire at CT though for 17s.
Do you guys know if the Universal Fit rims from CT come in a set of four or is that how much it cost for each rim?
