I was going to get the Elite, but now I don't know if it's worth the extra money? It's for a Christmas present for hubby. I know Walmart has the basic 360 on sale now. Hubby will mostly use it for Halo 3 LOL! Any advice would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks!

So the PS3 is not even a consideration? Personally, I would like for the misses to get some sexy lingerie but that's just my way of thinking.
No, seriously. This has been covered to death. Get the Halo3 if finances isn't a big issue. YOu want your gift to be special and since he's a Halo fan, well, it's a no brainer.

Even if you're a Halo fan, the Halo 360 is piss ugly. Just get the $350 one at Wal-Mart.

Maybe for next Xmas ;)
I agree with Firestorm, the Halo 3 edition is butt fugly.

If you can find one, get the $350 special at Walmart as the two games with the newer hardware is a very good deal. If not, go for the Elite, the bigger HD and more cables (component + HDMI) make it a great value. Either way can't go wrong, but I agree the Halo 3 360 is butt ugly.

The question should boil down to whether you think you need the 120GB within the future. I can say now with confidence that I do. I've managed to use up 50GB of the HDD already for demos and stuff, and even subtracting that, my download packs (Rainbow 6 and Gears) are chewing enough space for me to worry that the 20GB isn't enough. With Halo3's theater mode, I can see a lot of users cringe at how little space they have left.
The other thing is If you ever find a HDMI on the Premium, you still have the distinct problem of not able to get optical audio (it's not packed in with the Premium or the Halo 360).

THANKS! Didn't know about the HDMI+audio issue in the premium. I guess i'll wait until the Elite Xmas/Boxing day bundles to arrive :)

Basically, the default A/V plug has the optical out, but that plug was never designed to have HDMI in mind. On Elites with HDMI, a Audio Dongle that has the optical out was designed for it.
