Is it legal to drive my parent's car for the g2 exit test without my name on the insurance policy?

Thats what I did. My grandpa insured my car under his name and I took my car. As long as you have registration to the car and the insurance slips your fine. As long as the car has insurance on it then you don't need to worry . The only thing you have to worry about is that if you crash the car then your parents insurance will sky rocket.

same with me, and some of my other friends. All drove the G2 test without insurance.

I just went through this -- Check with your insurer. On my policy all drivers (G1 and G2) occupying the same residence must be either named or explicitly excluded on the insurance policy . They have a form to be filled out and signed by the policy holder and the resident to exclude them from the policy; otherwise the driver is automatically added to the policy. So yes you may have been illegally driving (driving without insurance).
However, my policy does allow for someone outside of my residence to borrow the car without specifically naming them (ie: lending a car to a relative or friend)

I currently do not have insurance with a g2 and i do not drive. I was just wondering what the legal status of using a household car for the g2 exit test was. If it is indeed illegal, the only loopholes i can think of would be to borrow a friend's car or rent the instructors...

as long as the car itself is insured under somebody's name u can drive it. its just the if something happens and u get injured u wont be covered.
