Hey guys,

I've been researching which car to buy for the past month now and have narrowed it down to a TSX. However, I've noticed some TLs selling for a bit more, but of course it's a notch up. On edumunds.com, the TSX ratings are killer, and the TL ratings are not far behind.

So here's the question: If money weren't a problem (say difference of $2k between the two), and KMs were similiar.. which would you buy, the TSX or TL.

Any feedback would help! Cheers

Well you're going to get a little better mileage on the TSX vs the TL. The TSX also comes in a six speed which is nice.

also where are they manufactured? I think the TSX is built in Japan and the TL is built in the US.

If that is the case I'd get the TSX.

I've been looking at those 2 myself. Personally I'd take the TSX as it's more fuel efficient and looks cooler.

I would (and did) choose the TSX, unless you need the extra space.

If you get the manual, the shifter is a thing of beauty.

I went through the same dilemma a while back and got the TSX. Partly because my brother has a TL so I can always drive that if need be. Of the two, I actually prefer the drive of the TL, but it was as you mentioned a couple grand more, plus more money for gas, slightly higher insurance, and I didn't want a larger car at this stage.

In my opinion you really can't go wrong with either. I'd drive both and see which one feels more right to you.

If they are both similar in price and Milage then i would choose the TL. Its still a higher model at the end of the day and your getting more for your money.

TSX if getting a manual tranny.

personal opinion would be the TL for me. I like the look, but it really depends if you are looking into a MT or AT.

Except in Europe it's not nearly as well equipped as it is here in NA.

I had the same dilemna 04 TL and 04 TSX. I ended up getting the 04 TL.
-Looks better imo (classier).
-More power 258hp vs 200hp
-Roomier interior
-Smoother ride
-TSX insurance for me was actually slightly more than the TL.

and the TL is a guissed up accord here...

but i'll go for the TL...fuel savings is marginal for the TSX and that car is way underpowered for what it is.

TL. TSX is so ricer. Its the new RSX. All show no go.
Sorry but thats the truth. I would rather get a BMW 3 Series. I've drove all 3 cars, I don't like the handling on Jap cars... Maybe cause i'm too use to german cars.

But TL seems to be a better car than the TSX. The TL has much more class too.

OK, so a reason that people are giving for choosing the TSX is that it's made in Japan. I believe this to be somewhat irrelevant unless you have concrete evidence that the reliability of the TSX is significantly better than that for the TL given the lifespan of the vehicle when it's in your hands.

I mean, do people choose the Mazda3 over the Alliston-Civic or Cambridge-Corolla because it's M.I.J. rather than made in N.America? I certainly hope not, as the Mazda3 has been proven to be less reliable than both of those two...

I would choose the TL. The TSX is rather pokey in terms of speed when compared to most of its segment rivals. Less interior room, too. The TL feels more like a true luxury car.

Fuel savings are marginal because both cars need premium fuel anyways... the moment you choose a vehicle which requires premium fuel, you're demonstrating that the price of fuel doesn't really matter to you (unless it's something really unreasonable like a large truck-based SUV such as the hummer)

There's certainly a price difference here, no? Also I'm guessing that the TSX does better in every Canadian's favourite category, right? (Fuel economy ;) )

Personally I actually have to say I like the TSX better. I don't really like Hondas at all, minus maybe the RL but out of the TSX and the TL I think I'd rather the TSX.

I'm not a big fan of the larger cars and the TL is the larger of the two here. I've driven both but not enough to really say all that much about them other than the fact that they are, well, Hondas LOL.

Even when I see them on the road, if I see a TL I barely notice. The TSX on the other hand I have a bit more enthusiasm over (which isn't much enthusiasm anyway but I still enjoy seeing it more than the TL, lol).

I dunno I kinda feel the same about the TL, not so much the RL. TL seems to get more oohs and aahs from fanboys than anything else; TSX is more like an RSX/Integra owner that's grown out of their boy-racer phase.

Sorry but thats the truth. I would rather get a BMW 3 Series. I've drove all 3 cars, I don't like the handling on Jap cars...
Again please avoid the use of the term "Jap". It is an ethnic slur and is largely considered to be offensive. I'm going to start to report posts if there aren't edits and discontinued use. And no I'm not even Japanese, it's just an offensive term and should be avoided (even if you yourself happen to be Japanese which is possible, I think it should not be used given it's connotations in general).

Somewhat misleading. The TSX is the "Accord" in Europe but it's also sold as the "Euro Accord" in Japan. TL is nothing anywhere else, right? Like it doesn't exist outside of NA I think?

Either way I'm unsure of your point. I don't see the TL as all that much more than the TSX

NO! What is the matter with you people? I hardly think you'd go around dropping the n-bomb, but apparently you think it's a joke when ppl tell you another word is also a similarly used term?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jap

The term Jap is used in English as an abbreviation of the word "Japanese." Today it is usually used as an ethnic slur, though English speaking countries differ in the degree they consider the term offensive. Most people of Japanese descent in these countries consider it offensive.

The TL shares a platform with the North American Accord. The TSX shares sheet metal with the Euro Accord.
