There are a lot of services out there, even credit card companies like TD Gold are in on it... but one thing they don't give you are the trip tiks. Mapquest and Google maps and such will never compare.. and well worth the extra $15 a year...

Never used them, have had CAA for over 25 years and saw no reason to change. CAA has given me good roadside service when I have needed it (an I needed it a lot a few years ago with my Kid's cars) and, it worked very well in the US with the AAA affiliation. I don't know if the others have any American connections.

Why do you want to switch away from CAA?

I've only used it a few times on their basic service and upgraded to Plus this year. Gives me unbelievable peace of mind to know I'm driving while backed by the biggest roadside service company in Canada especially with the additional features of Gold.

Speaking of which, if anyone is considering a CAA membership get the Plus membership, what is it an extra 2 maybe 3$ per month? 10km worth of towing is almost worthless. IF you break down in Oshawa even and need to get towed to Etobicoke, you'll still get dinged 100$+ (pulling numbers out of the air but it is an expensive tow even with CAA Basic). For the extra 30$ that Plus costs you can get towed 200km. That's a third of the way to Montreal. (p.s. My car broke down with CAA Basic on a roadtrip to Montreal this past April :razz: )

Yip! Discount movie tickets, discount park tickets, getting local map and local advise of small US town from local AAA branch, tour books, access to AAA map online (that shows if the highway is under construction), etc are something I have been using.
