so if u want it:

INSTORE (YMMV whether or not coupons will work)
1) go to stooples B&M instore TODAY and buy the item at REGULAR price
2) return to stooples B&M on FRIDAY w/ FS/BB flyer or webpage printout in hand and claim a PM on item
3) Do NOT try to PM this before the sale takes effect on FRIDAY! Follow the above directions!

ONLINE (yes, the online coupons will work)
1) buy the item online at stooples for FULL PRICE TODAY (and use any applicable coupon(s) if u have purchase subtotal over $200 or $400)
2) u should receive an order confirmation e-mail with details about ur order and delivery info
3) send stooples an online PM form (http://www.staples.ca/ENG/CSR/csr_contact_us.asp?CSREmailAddress=bd%2Epricematch %40orders%2Estaples%2Ecom&Subject=Price+Match&OrderRequiredFlag=No) TOMORROW morning (as early as possible) and request for a PM; fill in all necessary contact info, and under the Comment text box, fill in with stoople's item description & item #, followed by competitor's description, webID and with a weblink if possible, including their price.
4) u should receive another e-mail stating that "We have credited your debit/credit card in the amount of $XX.XX"

OR

1) send them an e-mail for a price quote via an online PM form (http://www.staples.ca/ENG/CSR/csr_contact_us.asp?CSREmailAddress=bd%2Epricematch %40orders%2Estaples%2Ecom&Subject=Price+Match&OrderRequiredFlag=No); fill out all the ncessary contact info, and under the Comment text box, fill in with stoople's item description & item #, followed by competitor's description, webID and with a weblink if possible, including their price.
2) after submitting PM request, if PM is successful, u should receive an e-mail reply with "Price Match Confirmation quote #".
3) IF u get the PM confirmation quote #, immediately go to stooples.ca and buy the item (subject to availability) at the regular stooples' price.
4) u should receive an order confirmation e-mail with details about ur order and delivery info; REPLY to that e-mail with ur PM confirmation quote # and u should receive yet another e-mail stating that "We have credited your debit/credit card in the amount of $XX.XX"

ANYONE referring to the item as not reflective of the "sale price" now should consider themselves RFD newbies worthy of ridicule!!!

For anyone who's interested in Mint's method of PMing, here's the info FYI:
Steps to Online Price Matching at Staples (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65374)

again, it doesn't matter which method u choose, just choose 1 that suits u and u feel is the easiest and most comfortable with....

Ju Leon...

Hello there,

i remember getting this PMed for <$10 AR a few mths ago (can't find the thread).

i agree, it's actually not that great of a webcam, but for <$10 AR, it works fine for me for everyday use.

now for this price, you can't complain :D

no, you can PM anytime during the ER-effective period... and of course, sometime when FS still has it on sale

you can't buy it "today" anyway... all stooples stores are closed right now ;) (yes, ignore the "buy today, PM tom." comment)

I'd say this is the abuse of PM coz technically it shouldn't work. The Staples stuff have the full reason to reject the PM. If Staples starts to remove ER, there is no game to play.

there's been way too many past PM/ER deals where i've seen/heard RFDers using competitor's price where it's "lower than stooples' AR-price" and in these cases, the clause "if our AR-price is lower than competitor's, there'll be no PM" doesn't apply. but what do we see on RFD? ppl telling stories that stooples *still* neglects that fact and rejecting PMs regardless.

if they don't play by the rules, i don't see why we RFDers should "always" be abiding by them....

and yes, you're quite right they have the reason to deny it... that's why it's "YMMV"

stooples removing/ending ER? not anytime soon IMO.... their "ER business" is doing pretty good.

Greetings,

success at 2 different locations in ottawa, with different results. Staples dropped price to $69.96 already, btw (rebate still available)

1) Ottawa Nepean, Merivale Rd.

$69.96 -$32.97 = $36.99 + $2.96 + $2.22 = $42.17

2) Ottawa Downtown, Bank St.

$69.96 - $29.97 = $39.99 + $3.20 + $2.40 = $45.59
When asked about the reason for no 10% added in, the manager said its only for over a certain price.....BS, but still an awesome MJM deal nevertheless. =p

Plenty stock still available at both locations.

I tired to pricematch the Seagate 500GB external with them. They claimed Walmsrt never had stock and that it was a different item.

I went and got one from Walmort, brought it to them, showed them my receipt to prove they had it in stock, scanned it on THEIR cash register to show it was the exact same item, and they still refused the pricematch.

As far as I'm concerned Staples is free game, they openly tried to scam me, I'll happily bleed them for every penny.

With staples shady practices of hiding stock, denying perfectly legit PM's, denying the extra 10% if they do process the PM, etc... I feel no guilt taking advantage of them in every opportunity possible, since they feel no guilt taking advantage of uninformed everyday customers.

However i will not be takign advantage of this deal, i got several of these cameras for $5 each (no rebates) from a family member who works at a store that was discontinuing them

We need to try our luck in-store. I'm not sure if I'll be in luck at kingsway store in burnaby,BC. last time when there is "extra $100 off on every clearence priced computer" promotion, the manager wouldn't give me the extra $100 off on a dual core computer, claiming a clearenc priced computer end with .97 (the price of the computer was 399.97) wouldn't qualify for the promotion! There wasn't such thing in the ad (even in the fine print) however. I was mad and pointed at him:"DO YOU READ ENGLISH!" Sorry, my bad! ... in front of so many customers.

in regards to rebates, they're the only retailer at this point that are offering "online rebate submissions".

since the submissions are done online, obviously they rec'v it a lot quicker than the traditional mail-in method.

Sorry for bringing up a semi-late post.

Same here; no rebate form printed out of the machine.

I came home, checked the SKU and UPC numbers between the box and the rebate form included online. The items don't match up in UPC codes; I am guessing because of Original version and the Revised version. IE the silverish ones compared to the total black ones.

The total black ones came around first, they don't seem eligible for the rebate (which seems effing silly). I got a complete black one; returned it -- didn't want to chance the rebate not working if it was a slightly different model.

um... they send you a cheque... cash/debit?

but anyway, the MIR terms/conditions (LT ones in specific) don't specify min. purchase amt., so they've got no grounds to deny a MIR qualification just b/c you purchased it for < the amt of the MIR value.

I came home, checked the SKU and UPC numbers between the box and the rebate form included online.

you prbly know the diff. already, but just to get rid of confusion in terminology, SKU != UPC

stooples' SKU is 6-digit # (diff. depending on retailer), and the UPC is (usually) some 12-digit barcode located on product pkging (same barcode regardless which store you bought it at )

The items don't match up in UPC codes; I am guessing because of Original version and the Revised version. IE the silverish ones compared to the total black ones.

yes there are actually 2 diff. versions of the STX webcam.

the one that stooples is selling for right now is the newer one.

the older one is this one: http://www.grandandtoy.com/sites/CORP/ProductDetailsPopup.aspx?productCode=961410

My take is that since we still need to pay taxes on the rebate ($40x14%)=$5.60, the difference between FS and Stoople is only $4.40 each. Since the difference is so small, I am going to buy that in FS and save me all the headache from filing for a rebate

Anyone can confirm this?

I don't wanna make any mistakes on the rebate since I didnot get the rebate form either.

once again, you do not need the MIR form

if you've already bought the product, the UPC is right on the box itself.

FS has no MIR tho.

read the online rebate form....the rebate is only for cams bought from Staples, hence what makes it such a good deal to PM.

Hi MJM, I bought the newer version of the webcam (Yonge/Sheppard) and no problem with price match. However, no rebate form was printed (which is fine). On my receipt there is only the UPC code show up (097855039484) which is same as the one on the box. (BTW, no SKU# printed also)

However, on the mail-in rebate form (pdf), stated that the "Product # 961464-0215 - SKU 656097". i.e. the UPC does not matched!

Is that mean most likely my rebate won't be valid? Would you please shed some light on this issue. Much appreciated! Thanks.

They could, but then you could just come here and fill out the rebate...

Anyways, I just got one myself. The manger just punched in the numbers and left lol. The register didn't print out the rebate form for some reason but whatever.

+1

Did anyone get the rebate form in-store?? The staples flyer says 'easy online rebate $40'... this means it is supposed to be submitted online and hence no rebate form was printed?

usually, on stooples receipts the UPC is printed rather than the SKU

i'm not sure what the 1st part is, but check the SKU online, and if the product you bought is identical to the one avail. online, then they should be the same.

if not, you might've bought the wrong version.

Is that mean most likely my rebate won't be valid? Would you please shed some light on this issue. Much appreciated! Thanks.

well, i can't tell you much cuz i've no clue if you bought the right one or not....

the "EOR $40" just means you *could* do the rebate online, hence "easy"...

you could still do it the traditional stnail mail way if you prefer.

if you bought the right product, a MIR form should've printed out

Thanks a lot OP. I got my family a few of these on some separate bills.

A guy behind told my cashier that there was a rebate for the cam and he told the guy that I was here for a PM with Future Shop and didn't even mention anything about the rebate to me. So they just let me buy it at a more expensive price than the one they were offering with their Easy rebate laughing and thinking that they were screwing me over. I just pretended to be stupid and simply smiled at them and bid them a very good day and left with 4 cameras all on separate bills and paid in cash.

Now I'm just waiting on the rebates for which I've requested with four different address.

I don't even know if I should be happy for them to have let me have the easy PM or should I be mad at them for now informing a customer of any potential savings I could've made. haha :-0

Submitted my Easy Rebate for a week and couldn't find my record on their website. Really doubt if they will honor this rebate. :(
