Hey Guys,

I'm in the market for a 2003 to 2006 G35 sedan. One thing I needed to know before my purchase was how reliable the car is.
Any owners out there experience some major problems with the car? On average how much would maintenance be for this car? I am assuming that parts would be expensive since the G35 is a luxury car.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I own a 2004 G35 sedan with sport suspension. The car is rock solid, no issues with the car. Performance, handeling and ride comfort are amazing. This car represents good value to cars of similar class. Also this car requires the premium gas, so expect to pay on average $1.10/l
I do the normal oil changes and maintenance as recommended by Infinity (with some scrutiny).
I do recommend winter tires as this car is rear wheel drive and all seaon tires don't work as well in the winter season. A good set of winter tires with separate rims will run you approximately $1000 (or more) for this car!

Thanks for the quick reply Rocco. Yea I had assumed the car was pretty good maintenance wise.

Really nice car, was just worried about expensive maintenance and parts and so on. Good to hear that it doesn't have any major problems.

Mechanically the engine has been perfected. The VQ35 is used in many of their vehicles and is quite reliable with parts readily available as this engine is used in many of Nissan's vehicles as stated before.

as with any car, there are lemons out there
for example, some people have reported excessive oil consumption
visit the g35 forums and read for a few days and you will learn lots

Only an issue with 05-07 6MT. As the OP is looking at sedans, and 6MT is as rare as you can get with sedans, I doubt this will be an issue for him.

I own a G35C and car is rock solid. Only issue I have had is the leather seat got pushed out of its boot (common issue), but Infiniti refuses to fix it even though there is a SB in the states for it. Not that much of an issue really. Sedans are pretty solid, the coupes have more issues. Brakes might be a concern and the battery of course. Other then that, they have no issues.

G35 parts might be expensive but given I have never replaced a part yet and I am at 80k, you are good. The service is kind of exspensive but you get treated alot better than at Nissan. For the extra cash you get a free loaner, coffee, and a free wash each time you take your car. For the warranty by Infiniti:

240 Months or 100k KM Roadside Assistance
80k KM or 48 Months Basic Warranty
72 Months or 110 K KM Power train Warranty
Rust warranty, 7 years

Oil changes cost around 50-80 bucks depending on what service level. Issue with my coupe has been the tire tread and the brakes. No worries though, winter is coming and Blizzaks will be on the ride. Worth every $800 bucks (considering one of my buddies had to cough up $250/tire for his 19s G35).

I've had the 2004 G35 sedan for 3 years now. The only problem I've had is with the Bose Head-Unit. One day, my left-side speakers stopped working when playing a cd, but radio worked ok. So after searching through some infiniti forums, i found that other 2004 G35 owners had the same problem. Fortunately I was covered by warranty and Infiniti replaced mine.
