you think they will adjust their CDN prices to reflect the high CDN dollar now? Or you think it won't happen for awhile?

I want to join in w/ this lawsuit as I totally agree that these automobiles are taking advantage of us for jacking up their prices...

I wondered when this would happen. Hopefully it isn't just "North American" like the story says, the Japanese companies are just as guilty.

Named in the lawsuit are the Canadian and U.S. divisions of General Motors (NYSE: GM), Honda, Nissan and Chrysler.

I wonder why just those named and not the rest, a few Luxury brands come to mind.

Toyota/Lexus differences are atrocious too.

They will follow suit if everyone else lower their prices, otherwise they won't be able to compete

Of course, but that's not the point. They're not in the suit. So, if there is a settlement of some sort and a refund could possibly go out, there would be nothing for those CDN owners.

It's actually 8% from the reports I saw, which will "only" make them on avg 22% higher than US cars instead of 30%.

Dollar value isn't the issue really. The dollar being around par now only highlights the situation to more people because it's very clear without doing calculations, the price discrepancies.

Even compensating for a difference in dollar value (when there was one), the prices of new cars in Canada were still significantly more than in the US.

what ES said we have too many stupid rules in place thanks to transport canada mostly due to safety test etc that someone has to pay for. our market is what 1/10th-1/20th that of the us?

I really, really hope this encourages at least a moderate price drop almost immediately.

And not just because I'm planning to buy a new Honda within the next month. :D
