I was driving along going towards my next call and I saw this car at this used car dealer. So I had a few minutes to spare and stopped and checked out the car. The car has some body damage, mechanical is good, aluminum rims, black tints, no rust. Overall the car is in good running order minus the body damage. All the car needs is a fender, head light and side marker light plus the fender needs painting. I figure I could fix the car under 500 dollars. My plan is to fix it and then sell at a inflated price. So what I was wondering is I were to buy the car would I be able to make a insurance claim and say that the car was damaged due to vandalism and get them to pay for the car damages?

Whats the title of the car? Clear or Salvage? If its salvage, the car was actually released under the salvage title by the insurance company, so thats a no go.

You could... but then the closest you might get to a car in the next couple of years would be making licence plates in prison.
I would guess that ANY insurance claim that you make ~1 week after buying the car would be investigated, big time... at which point your fraud would be discovered.

Big time fraud. And an old one at that.
Plus some insurance companies require you to bring the car in for an inspection before they policy goes live. Usually its a local Apple Autoglass or some place like that that they certify, and they note any damages, mods, serial numbers etc. and that the car even exists in the first place :)

You sound like a really decent person. I'm sure your mom would be proud :)
