Finished heroic with 2 people around 8 AM Sep 25. Going to try to finish heroic alone.

I want to play 4 player legendary but it's hard to find a party. Wish you could just join random games like in Gears.

i tried playing on heroic by myself and got way too frustrated, so i had to switch to normal before i broke something...

i found out that my regular edition disc has a huge scuff mark on it and it wouldn't let me play the 4th campaign mission until i polished it with some toothpaste! :lol:

i just finished it on normal. having never played the first 2, i don't understand what the big fuss is all about. maybe its the multiplayer which i have yet to try. the last level was pretty bad.

I was disappointed on how to take down the giant spider. I mean come on...must every "boss" in video games have a giant glowing core that is easily exposed?

Just finished it and I was thoroughly unimpressed. The Cortana level with the flood ship "maze" was horrible, probably worst level I've played in a video game in a long time. The last level with the monitor "boss" fight and warthog driving session was pretty bleh as well.

The first half of the game was great, but it got worse towards the end.

agreed. that flood ship level omg was horrible. can someone tell me whos voice that was like every 5 mins that was talking to you? not cortana, its when it gets like like muddy and blurry. I can't say i've played halo 1 or 2 throughly so i dont really know the story.

stopped on mission 6 on legendary difficulty... i found this game so boring and uninspired. it was painful to try and play past mission 6, only reason why i went that far is because i had friends over.

ah okay ya i guess i shoulda waited till the credits ended i had a feeling there was going to be something haha. i know bungie has said this will be the last game in the series but doesn't that after-credit scene hint at a halo 4? i'm still itching to know who that guys voice was in that floodship?

I thought the game was OK. A little above par, but nothing spectacular. Could have been better, but I can say that about most games these days. Time to see what the MP fuss is all about.

i believe the persons voice you hear during the game is the main flood guy, i forget his name (if he has one) but its the big plant creature but im not 100% sure..

Finished the fight today on Heroic. Definitely enjoyed it more then the 2nd, but still leaves some stuff to be desired. MP is a blast as always. Just gotta get used to the new maps now...

My thoughts:

I thought it was good, not great, just good.

It seemed really slow; without heart. Story was confusing at times and not really fleshed out.

I really enjoyed Halo 2, and thought that the addition of the Arbiter really gave it some soul.

Am I the only one who thinks Halo 2 was better than Halo 3 ?

Halo 3 seemed like a rehash of Halo 2 at times. Enemies were the same, only a couple of new weapons (I did like the Spartan Laser however), the deployable items seemed okay, nothing really special, the new vehicles were underwhelming (big exception is the Hornet) and it seemed like the game wasnt really driven by the story like it was with Halo 2.

I finished the fight solo on Normal. I'll try it on Legendary next with some others.
I liked some of the cutscenes and the parts of the driving levels but the flood parts were pretty boring. I've always liked driving the Scorpion tanks. I liked how they upped the difficulty on Normal on H3 vs stupid easy Normal on H2.
I'm so disappointed with the graphics. Full of jaggies everywhere, even the cutscenes. Not acceptable, Bungie. Bungie should hire better 3d modelers. The popular description going around is: talking (blocky) corpses. Nothing could be truer. Hype sold this train. The game felt even shorter than Halo 2 IMO.
Oh well, the ride was ok. I just wish the presentation was better.
If they're gonna slam Heavenly Sword on the shortness of that campaign, Halo 3 deserves just as much of a slam (bonus points of course on the excellent MP).
Shame I'm hearing rumblings that the next Bungie game is gonna look just as awful as Halo 3 since it's gonna use the same engine and artists.

I think the only way you’ll be disappointed with the game, is if you had set your hopes and expectations too high before its release. Not the greatest graphics on the 360, but I think Bungie had to maintain a certain look and feel to the game, in order to bland it with the 2 previous incarnation on the original XBOX; still good graphics. If you fallowed the story line, it does bring some closure onto the series as well. I know there were many critics around the net in regards to graphics (more recent about the actual game resolution), but I thought the game looked awesome. It had solid frame rate, big maps with many enemies on screen at once, and the multiplayer is out of this world. The movie making is also a nice touch, and so is the forge option for MP. The only thing sub-par was the flood level, as mention by some other people in here. All in all, I think the game lived up to expectations, and I am not even a big fan of the series.

I played a bit of campaign this weekend at a friends house so i didn't really get the feel. Multiplayer was a blast... I'm soo old skool... nothing but the Battle Rifle (i did win most of the matches).

Most disappointing was the graphics... Gears of War blows it away...

There is also an extended ending on Legendary. It should be on YouTube if you don't feel like finishing it.

The voice was of the Gravemind. You can think of him as the leader or brain of the flood. I was VERY confused at the end but I got a bunch of stuff cleared up by asking some hardcore Halo fans on another board.

Er, the spiders (called Scarabs) are the Covenant's tanks. That's why you can jump on and there are enemies in it. The glowing thing you destroy is the control system and I think engine.

Agh yes. Confusing as hell, and those turret flood things on the walls were near impossible. I kept having to stick them with plasma grenades. And the level was so cramped that my friends and I kept killing each other with shot gun blasts or sword lunges by mistake.

From the achievement boards, EVERYTHING must be done, not just the last level. That'd be too easy.

people can only join your game when you're sitting in the lobby. if you hit Y to bring up your friends list, people can only join if there is an arrow looking symbol beside your name. once you start, no one can join.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure this is how it works. i've wanted to join my friends games, but unless they are in the lobby i can't join.

Yeah for co-op campaign, just invite your friends while you're in the lobby of campaign. Or set your Xbox Live status from Invite Only to Friends Only.

Finished on normal and was working on the skulls have almost all of them, I did that I would be your daddy one and got the skull, saved and exit then went back to check and it's not in my campaign settings :mad: Now I gotta do that whole level over again.

Beat it solo on Legendary last week. It's not that hard, just have to take your time and go very slowly. Some sections took a lot of retries though.

Plasma rifles seem to work very well against needle spitting flood. Shoot them til they fall off the wall.

People don't buy Halo games for the single player aspect of it. Go to the "Multiplayer Matchmaking" section of the game to find the other 80% of the game you didn't see.

Anyhow, yes the single player game is short. Esp if you're good at console FPS controls and familiar with the Halo universe. Multiplayer has always been where Halo shines and gives out value.
