hi,

i was just driving to the airport in milwaukee yesterday, when i got hit with a $236 speeding ticket for going 80 in a 65 zone...the cop who stopped me didn't even have radar, he was driving an unmarked car that i passed, and he said he was going 80, so therefore i must've been going faster. anyways, the question i have is what happens if i don't pay this ticket? i'll never go back to wisconsin anyways, so i'm not worried about warrants and whatnot...i'm more worried about what effect this would have on my insurance here (ontario), credit rating, and possible entry into the united states in other states.

thanks.

I do know that Ontario has agreements with all Provinces and 41 States. I believe that Wisconsin is one of them but I cannot find the list right now.
If you do not pay and get your license suspended in one of those 41 States, guess what, Ontario gets notified of your suspension and, being reciprocal, you should get a letter from the MTO being notified of your license suspension and you have top go through the process to get it back. I think your insurance company can easily find out about it as well.
This is how this was explained to me by a MTO official that I had to call and ask a while back.

on the MTO website (when I was looking at it couple months back) it stated only a few states as being connected to Ontario. NY, Michigan and a few others.

I hope it isn't 41 as I have 2 tickets in the US (I paid) and 2 tickets here, i'd be considered a high risk driver.

The following states in the U.S. also have a reciprocal agreement with Ontario: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, District of Columbia (41 states).

That sucks...
I was pulled over outside of Chicago this summer and was being clocked at 65 in what I thought was a 55. Turns out I was still in a construction zone, so the limit was 45 and a double fine. Officer was really nice. He made a simple deal. He said he was going to check my license and if there were a number of infractions he would fine me the full...otherwise, we could go with a written warning--what we ended up getting.

He then warned that there were several unmarked vehicles taking photo radar. Since they did not send tickets for photo radar to Ontario, he asked us to just watch our speed.
