I might be wrong here but from what I've seen, the Walmart stuff is just like they are spraying an oil on there that isn't really all that purpose-designed. Just seems like they spray oil because oil stops corrosion and that's how that works.

Krown on the other hand uses oil too of course but their stuff seems to be designed for the purpose of preventing rust... They use penetrants and oil products that seem to be at least meant for the purpose of preventing rust; and, they've been at it a long time so I'm sure they know what they are doing a little bit better than the oil change jockeys at Wal-Mart.

That's my take on it anyway. Personally I would do the Krown instead.

With the ammount of rubber parts and seals on a new vehicle, it amazes me that there are places that still use oil...

Everyone knows that oil and rubber dont mix... if you are not sure, read the back of a condom box.

OK, now consider who is in the business of rust prevention and has contracts for city and private fleets, and who is more likely to do a thorough application?

Finally, if you have a car you care enough about to rustproof, then by extension, don't you care enough not to take it to Walmart?

Virgin rubber can swell if left in oil, yes. That I'm aware, only Volvo uses virgin rubber, and you can still get Volvos treated, though you should wipe the excess oil from the door, trunk and hood seals.

I've had four vehicles treated without rubber swelling problems.
