Here is a photo I took today of a weird scratch on my rear door. The car is 2 weeks old - I don't get it, we haven't taken it through any car washes and it doesn't look like someone's door hit it. The scratch is approx 1 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide with 2 small scratches beside it.
Do you think the dealer will fix it? Could it possibly be a paint issue that should be corrected by Acura?
If not, how much will it cost me to fix? Any suggestions where?
Actually, I can't post the photo here but here's a link I posted on another site

Hmm that looks pretty bad, like through the primer, maybe down to the ELPO? (Does Honda even use ELPO? lol)
Definitely not a "paint issue"--paint doesn't do that by itself. Something hit or scraped the vehicle it looks like to me. Dealer might give you a break on price for the fix but it's probably gonna be repainting that whole panel to truly fix it. But it depends.
The part on the left you could probably buff out pretty good but the right hand-side, it looks like it went through the primer there, so you'd either have to touch it up (might not look that great) or get it refinished...

What do you guys think it would cost to fix it. Will they have to re-paint the entire door?
Any suggestions where to take it in the GTA. - preferably oakville, mississauga, burlington area.

If they have to repaint the entire door it'll probably be around $300 I would imagine, since it's just a simple repaint and no body work or metal repair is required.

put some touch up paint on it, then let it dry, wet sand it down so its smooth 2000 grit sandpaper, be carefull not to break through the clear.
then when its smooth, use silicone polish and a high speed rotary buffer to bring the clear coat back to a factory shine/finnish

With a 60k car 2 week old SUV, I would be very hesitant to do that. I had a scratch on the G, about 3 inches long, not as severe as yours as it did not get to the base. I had the clear worked and after a high speed polish, it was mostly out. I am probably going to get the body detailed again and get that scratch out before winter rolls around. For you, there is really nothing much to do but to get that panel repainted. Sucks for a brand new SUV like that. Kind of like what the BMW salesman told me "no matter how far you park your car away from everywhere else, some idiot will always be glad to park right beside you and smack their door into your car".

What a waste of time, use Langka and be done with it!

I tried it, and it didn't work for me. I might have used it wrong but I followed the instructions as carefully as I could.

This is why car manufacturers should follow Saturn's lead and use dent & rust proof panels. Of course they would sell less cars as most people would be keeping theirs for longer since it would still look pretty good after 10 years.

looks like someone keyed your car.

I don't think it was a keyjob, but I do have similar marks on my own car from neglecting to notice my snowblower was too close. As a result the door rubbed up against the handlebars and did a similar (but smaller) job like that.
The handlebars are rounded so I'd have to suggest something similar.

Works very well for those pesky stone chips on the front of your car...

I have tried that product and it works alright. Not as good as the ad, but decent enough job. It's like a paint thinner cream that is used to remove the blob.
I find the chips still noticeable though.

Only Saturn is giving up on that now. Only two models (the Ion and one other) still have it, and once they go into the next gen or get discontinued, they'll be gone for good.
Of course they would sell less cars as most people would be keeping theirs for longer since it would still look pretty good after 10 years.
The irony... Maybe Saturn caught on? LOL. The official reason is because of the gaps between panels that are necessary, but most people don't notice the gaps being any worse than those on cars with metal panels, so perhaps you're on to something...

If it was me, I'd just slap some touchup paint on it and forget it. After a year, you're car will be covered in them, so why worry about it? Some guy put a huge dent in my minivan the other day. That's life.

looks like some bicycle might of come up next to it and hit it to cause that scratch.

Anyways if you have that expensive of a car, I would just get it fixed.
All these snake oil cures are not going to fix something that big and make it look right. Just look around town and get a quote for someone who will do a good job or will do it until they do a good job.

Acura told me that they will have to paint the entire door since the scratch is so deep. Are there any negative effects from doing this.
I think the paint has to be removed and re-done. Will the paint match 100% for the life of the car or will it fade over time. Is this a routine procedure?
