Sure its a bold statement to make but hear me out.

I dont have all the time in the world to always be going to my local branch, but occasionally I have a question and want to ask someone local.

So starting on Monday I started calling my local branch directly.

Monday 5 calls between 10:00-12:00 and 2:00-5:00
Tues - same
Wed - same
Thurs - same
Fri - ?

I followed this routine all week, trying each and every way to get an answer, I tried investments, I tried lost, stolen card. A few of the options want to transfer you to the main call center but I want to speak to someone at my local branch.

Mind you, they make good money off me in terms of fees and what have you, its my business accound.

I have yet to get an answer.
Who can I take this matter up with? These seems totally ridiculous to me, it really does. That being said, I'm now going to move to another bank.

Just for fun I called TD and got through no problem.

BMO can bite me.

No I'm trying the local #.
I here the same voice mail every day of the lady who helped open my account last year.

I just checked a few local credit unions, prices are cheap like $5 buck minimum but then a per transaction cost which could add up, still might be worth it to be able to deal with a real person.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about "not" having to deal with people but in the case of a business account, its a little different.

Its funny though, cause when I go in they have no issues prying into my business "boy you are doing well" "wow, what do you do for a living"

lol

What's wrong with talking to someone at the call center? That's what they're there for! They don't just waste money setting it up for nothing you know.

If you want to speak with someone local, then go to the bank, don't call them.

I've been with bank of montreal for a long long time. Most of the time I can get whatever I need done via direct banking.

For the few times that I have had to call a branch and not been able to get timely service via their local number .... I phone the call center. Almost always the wait is less than 1 minute for a real person. I ask for them to connect me with somebody live at the branch and its done.

For every person leaving BMO for TD, there is another person going the other way. The 5 big banks know that so they don't even care if you leave. But, it sure feels good eh!

Darn, they're taking a page from the Canadian cell phone industry...

To the OP I understand what you're saying. I get friggin pissed at these damn branches!!!!! I try calling them and I get someone to pick up after the 10th time!!!!!

I work for the BMO call center by the way.

The best bet is to let it go through to direct banking and ask to be put through to the direct line for the branch in question. Tell them it's nothing that direct banking can help with. But even the customers tell me that Direct Banking (the call center) is far more helpful than the branches.
