I'll try to be as thorough as possible with this, I'm looking for a little insight, or advice that anyone can offer. In particular if they know of a plan that suits my needs and is better then what I have come across. :)

First off, I am a student so I can do student plans, not sure if they're the best but I thought I'd mention that.

I plan on getting two phones, one for myself and one for my girlfriend.

I WILL NOT go with Rogers. I just had to call and lie to them to get out of the contract and I really dislike their service. So even if they're offering a plan that's better I'd still prefer not to go with them.

The plan I was on was basically $95 (including S&F) per month for both phones, it included:

200 anytime
Evenings and weekends after 6
Voicemail
225 text messages
Rogers to Rogers
Caller ID

That was a pretty good plan, but I am willing to spend a little more, and definitely willing to spend a little less.

The phone I want to get is a Treo, or Blackberry, although I don't really care for the data portion of it, I enjoy the bulkiness of those phones (I know it may seem weird) as well as the other obvious benefits.

Currently with Telus I can get on the student plan. It would be $40 per phone. It includes:

Unlimited talk and text to your fave 8.
350 anytime minutes.
Evenings and weekends - 6pm.
3 months unlimited talk and text (not a big deal).
+ $7.70 for SAF/911

I could get the Treo 755 for $239, keep the data plan for a year and pay that extra $25 a month and then terminate that portion which would save me $20 or so in the long run.

A few questions I have about Telus though:

1) Are they reliable and do they have good service?
2) Is there any way around the $35 account set up charge (for both phones)
3) Is there any way around this supposed $15 in store setup?
4) Is there a better/similar plan like this for cheaper?

I apologize for the lengthy post, but I personally find it better than the "Which companEE is better post. :p

I've shopped at Bell/Solo and Fido, none of which seemed to offer anything remotely as good. Any help, suggestions, etc, would be greatly appreciated!

1. Yes, I've been with Telus for quite awhile now, and they have excellent service.
2. Yes, call telus and ask. If you check the $17.30 thread in hot deals people have been getting free features tossed in, which are worth a lot more than $35.
3. Yes, talk to the store or goto a different one - No idea where your located but I have a dealer that will waive all the fees.
4. Check out the $17.30 plan or call Telus and negotiate for some free features.

-- If you want a dealer contact and don't mind dealing out of province if your not in AB pm me.

Thanks for the reply!

That plan looks good, however, is there a way to add the my fav 8 to the plan? My girlfriend will really want that and she sends a boat load of text messages.
