Hi,

I would like to know why e-commerce sites are hard to sell even though if it is drop ship only.

http://www.sitepoint.com/marketplace/auction/13002

If i had the money, i would want to buy it. But im wondering why it isnt being snapped up very fast.

Its making 1k a month, and he's asking min 15 month revenue which is good.

So how come forums get stolen a couple of hours after they are put on auction, but this straight forward site with rev doesnt.

Thanks.

he's overpriced. I wouldn't say 15X revenue for a drop shipping site is a good buy (despite claims to the contrary of 24X revenue as being the norm).

The real fact is, sites tend to sell for either more than that, or less. More than that for reasons other than revenue, less than that if it's just a straight revenue site.

A drop shipping site is nothing special. The revenue is not stable (given the nature of online business).

They'd likely find a buyer at 6 or 8 times revenue. Much more than that and I'd guess noone is interested. I can do a lot more with 15 grand in the next year and a half than try and build a drop ship site that won't pay back for almost two years.

Perhaps Sitepoint is not a very good place to sell it

That and the well deserved reputation ecommerce sites have for scams and ripoffs.

I read the ad, like you say, its probably on the level.

But I dont think it would appeal to anyone except those who fully understood all the terminology of ecommerce and the mechanics of the business. The ad seems to be to be pitching experts who probably already have ecommerce sites.

It needs to be reworded to appeal to the startup entrepreneur

and for that you need a great reputation and plenty of verifiable testimonials just to come close to the hype and nonsense surrounding the scammy ecommerce businesses.

You know whats funny.
I was trying to sell a site that legitimately makes between 750-1000 and another that makes between 1000-1500 on sitepoint...

I didnt get a single bid. Not only that my auctions were backed up to the hill with traffic screens, payment screens, extra info.

Not a single contact, yet silly arcade sites and proxies are being sold daily for hundreds of dollars.

I was asking less than 9 months revenue for these sites which have produced for over 2 years.

So I lost faith in SP.

Anyways, one thing about that sale that scares me, no proof or any extra info given.

This makes no sense?
What well deserved reputation? Sure there are scams but not as many as people think. This is just a silly reply.
