I've tried using these bags, and it seeems to have worked fine for me. It's hard to believe at first, but if you try you'll see it.

Good thread. I see it all the time on TSC on TV. Anyone else have used them?
I guess if fruits and vegies really emit those gases, and those bags catch them, then it should work.
Also, if you put vegies and fruits in the Air tight containers (eg. Lock n Lock), they also last longer. I put strawberries into a LnL and after 4 weeks in the fridge they looked and tasted great. Compared to others that died after 2 weeks outside the containers.

Ethylene gas is released from food when it is chilled. The green bags are porous so it allows the gas to escape. Keeping them in a sealed container, in theory would make it go bad faster as the lack of oxygen encourages the food to produce ethylene gas.

Just used brown paper bags then a plastic on top, it works just the same. :D
