awestruck

I'm planning to switch to another internet provider. Once I do this I will lose my @rogers e-mail address, which is fine with me. However, I was wondering if the e-mail address will be restricted from being registered again by another user. So basically, this is what I am asking:

Suppose my Rogers e-mail is a common one like jack@rogers.com
I leave Rogers, so I no longer have access to the jack@rogers.com e-mail address. Some guy named Jack switches from Bell to Rogers and sets up a Rogers e-mail account. He tries jack@rogers.com. Will Rogers let him have this e-mail address?

TIA

Good question but I think the answer is sooner or later "yes." In the future you should use a web based email service such as yahoo or hotmail and then it wouldn't ever matter if you switch ISP's.

Don't use a public email address like Hotmail or Yahoo. Lots of companies are starting to block these domains.

Get a real email address. Either register your own domain and use it or use the one provided by your ISP.

Never use Rogers emil. Been using Hotmail for years. GMail is ok if privacy is not your concern as they screen all mails

The cool thing about Rogers is, because they use Yahoo as their email provider, you can "pre-switch" your email addy. Just go into Yahoo and make yourself another identity, like jack_whatever@yahoo.com. Then tie that into your existing account, and tell everyone to start using that email instead.

Whenever you do cancel rogers, you will still have access to a) All your saved email, and b) The new @yahoo.com email addresses, because even if you cancel Rogers, Yahoo won't take away your Yahoo account.

This is bogus. GMail doesn't screen your emails anymore than Hotmail or Yahoo does. They all use the text on the screen to deliver targeted advertising. No human is involved in the process.

agreed, a script picks out key words in an email like "toyota" or w/e and then gives u related adsence ads on the side of ur email
