Paradigm Speakers - 20% off @ General Audio in Calgary - HOT?

im been in the market for speakers for a while and I called a local store here and they were having a sale for 20% off all paradigm.

I've done some research and supposedly 20% is pretty good but I wanted to run it by the gurus here first...

what do you think? let me know, is this a good deal!!

most home audio stores are quite negotiable in terms of the final price you pay. It's not uncommon to be able to swing that kind of discount when purchasing a whole bunch of gear at the same time.

If you in the market for audio gear check out sites like audiogon.com or canuckaudiomart.com and try to find gear used. Often you will be able to find better gear than your budget would have allowed new. When I was building my home theater I auditioned a bunch of speakers and decided that Paradigm was the best value for the money and had originally been able to afford their entry level bookshelves. Instead I bought most of my setup used (except my center channel) for the cost of the low end of the line while getting much higher end stuff. I'm currently running Monitor 9's for fronts, Monitor 5 rears, a PW2200 sub (all of which was purchased for under half of retail) and a CC370 center.

@ any legitimate speaker store, if you're really interested let them talk you through the choices and audition the speakers. Then when they're going for the close just show hesitation and that you're still considering. They'll lower the price on you instantly.
Has happened to me 3 times at 3 different stores.

it's not bad deal for Paradigm however, I don't consider it an amazing deal or anything. Paradigms aren't discounted as heavy as other brands, but 20% is the minimum I would expect. I've seen/heard of stores offering 25% sales on some Paradigm models in the past
