Hi guys, I am an university student who just moved into a new condo.
I have 20 inch Insignia tv which is too small for me. I researched lcd TVs and they are bit too pricey for me.
I currently have BEV for condo, I figured that LCD monitors are much cheaper than the LCD TVs. So.. my question is...

Is it possible to buy a LCD monitor with a TV tuner and connect it to Motorola STB and watch TV on LCD monitor?

Any help will be greatly appereciated. Thanks!

for a computer monitor:

a: hook up a vcr to the moniter if it has composite or s-video inputs http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10090158&catid=22559 (need solution for sound ie. speakers)

b: buy a vga tv tuner such as the one here http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2825463&CatId=1427 (need solution for sound ie. external speakers)

c: buy a cheap tv-tuner for your pc http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=011171&cid=CC.344

for a lcd monitor (lcdtv without tuner)

your set-top box is your tuner.

don't know if you realize this but 22" lcd widescreen monitor is still smaller than a 20" tv if you are watching 4:3 tv content which it sounds like your are. and any tv tuner/ lcd monitor is gonna cost you about 350-400 dollars. you're better off just sticking to the tv you alreay have until you can afford a lcd tv.

a 32" toshiba at futureshop goes for 799.99 which probably with good budgeting you can save the difference in a couple of months easy.

We bought the Insignia a couple of weeks ago for our bedroom. We're actually pleasantly surprised with it and quite like it. We're running SC satellite on it and have a DVD player hooked up to it.

I use a Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 with my laptop and have been doing so for a year now. I don't have a cable box, but it works great with Windows Media Center. Windows Media Center also has the option to use a cable box, so I'm sure it would still work great with that.
